Update AAC Baseball Standings
I think we can get 3 into the regionals now. A win by UCF today and we may/should have 3 ranked teams next week.

UCF 12-2
UL 7-4
UCONN 5-4
USF 7-6
Houston 5-5
Rutgers 4-5
Temple 5-8
Memphis 4-8
Cincy 3-10

You all control your own destiny as well with some big CUSA games left + it's nice to have the series win vs. Rice, always a good tie breaker.

With the addition of Tulane and ECU next year this will be a heck of a baseball conference.

Houston and Louisville. Maybe UCF next week if we can get a win tonight.

Our late-game loss to your Knights last Saturday still smarts. Even after 14 hits, including 3 home runs, we allowed you to re-take the lead in the 8th inning and win. Fun game to watch, though. Congratulations on taking 2 of 3 for the series on the road.

I predict that we will climb in the future AAC rankings - we already have conference games against upper-half UCF, UL and Houston behind us (winning one game vs each, with some narrow losses). The AAC tournament in Orlando is going to be a war (and I'll be there to watch - good excuse to spend 5 days in Florida).

RE: Update AAC Baseball Standings
ECU hasnt won consistently enough to be ranked but im hoping we can still win enough to at least make a regional. We have lost a number of close games which happens in baseball but they have killed us the last several years. We won a huge series against Rice.but then laid an egg against ODU. We have a slim margin for error the rest of the games. Theo Epstein was at our game last night to see our best pitcher Hoffman. He didnt disappoint either had 16 Ks gave up only 3 hits and pitched a shutout.

Bringing in ECU and Tulane next year will more than offset the loss of Louisville in baseball. The AAC will be a meat-grinder.

It's a southern conference now and Temple is dropping baseball. I'm hoping for a turnaround at Rutgers with Hill having retired -- but we had some great teams in his heyday. Multiple Atlantic 10 and Big East championships. One of our better sports.

But yeah as a baseball conference (and a basketball conference) the American will be very good.

There is great potential in football. Nearly every AAC school has played very good football at one point in history. With improved exposure and revenue, and as the AAC becomes a recognizable brand, the incoming members will certainly become stronger.

I wish it were possible for Rice to join as an associate member for baseball

True. With just eight members, a strong baseball affiliate would be nice (ala Dallas Baptist who joins the Missouri Valley for that)

This NOT to create a sidetracking discussion ... but I noticed that VCU had an RPI of #25 the other day and leads the A-10 (I know the A-10 struggles in baseball, but still). Still would love to have them as a non-football compliment to Navy.

I wish the tournament was in Orlando, but it is actually at Brighthouse field in Clearwater (right outside of Tampa). Not a far drive for Knight fans though. Hopefully they will do busses. Stadium seats 7,000 and 1,500 grass seating. A UCF vs USF semi or final on the weekend would be fun.
