Syracuse - LSU series announced - 2015 and 2017
http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...rting-2015
LSU is going to visit Syracuse in 2015 and then will host Syracuse in 2017.
I am not sure this is that great an idea. LSU is usually in the running for the national championship and it might be a case of Syracuse being over matched.
On the other hand it will be good for the fans (providing it is not a blow out) to see a top notch team come to Syracuse.
The AD and assistant AD seem to be very good at networking as they seem to be able to schedule big name opponents at will. Considering Clemson and FSU are also on the schedule every year, it seems that the football players will get to play top notch teams quite often.
I suppose it may hurt the ACC strength of schedule if Syracuse loses to LSU but if Syracuse beats LSU then the ACC strength of schedule will be improved.

I doubt that losing will hurt SU's perceived strength too much. Everyone already knows that LSU is elite and SU is clawing back to where we were. Winning, however, would do wonders for our perceive strength. IN other words, we don't have a ton to lose, but a HUGE amount to gain.

I wish it was a case of playing @LSU in 2015 and home in 2017. How much can Syracuse improve in 1 year? Will it be enough?

My experience is that anything can happen in The Dome. Take 'em out Cuse!

Well, I'm against this. There are quality teams out there that Cuse and other non-football greats in the ACC could pair up with in the OOC. It just doesn't make sense to schedule the OOC elites. Cal, Oregon State, Iowa, Texas Tech, Mizzou (like the other year), Northwestern (like the other year), Ole Miss, Miss State. Those are all solid games, and winnable, and much less likely to embarrass the conference. Jmo.

The hard truth is...Syracuse casual fans are frontrunning bandwagon fans. The school needs a big name OOC school to help sell tickets and fill the Dome.

The program is on the up and we're winning bowls. I'm not overly worried about it. I like the idea of playing an elite team, a FCS team, a g5 team, and a mid-low P5 team.
Playing Notre Dame and LSU in the same year might be a problem. Playing LSU and schools like UConn, Cornell, and UMD is fine.

I wouldn't mind some easier opponents to help inflate the record like many schools try to do. It makes getting to a bowl easier. The fans do like playing the elite teams in the country.
It seems that the AD and assistant AD are really good networkers so they seem to be able to schedule the elite teams without that much difficulty.
I think the philosophy of the AD and assistant AD is to play anybody anyplace anytime. Its great if you have elite talent, its not so great if you are a mid-level team with mid-level talent.
It may make the ACC look bad but you never know in the dome. A win is possible, especially in a new environment for LSU.

who really knows if we will be playing fsu and Clemson yearly in 2015 by then ncaa could allow the single division 3 or 4 permanent rivals, the rest rotate schedule model and we all know fsu and Clemson won't be on protected yearly games

I want Cuse to win the game, if for no other reason than to laugh at the SEC. And I understand the desire to play opponents that interest the fan base. I just think there's a sliding scale and Cuse has crossed it with LSU (and USC a few years ago). It's right in line with PSU (for now, at least) and some of the other schools I mentioned. There's a difference between scheduling elite teams OOC and creating a great OOC schedule.
If the other 3 OOC games are all probable wins (no Northwestern or Missouri types) than maybe it's not so bad if you go 3-1 in your OOC and don't lose by 30+ to LSU.

currently the only other games scheduled for 2015 and 2017 are 2 home games vs central Michigan. Expect a fcs game each year and last OOC game who knows
