Same thing Martin did at UT. Get a fresh start at a new school before you get fired.

Regardless of what you think about his bench coaching, he brings more name recognition to the conference, and was the AP Coach of theYear just a few years back. Certainly not in the wrong direction to get a coach of his perceived stature at a program like Tulsa. Very good projectory for the conference as a whole. He's also a good recruiter. The positives certainly outweigh the negatives in this particular case.

What sort of name does he bring to the conference? The guy who pushed the eject button twice in a row before he got canned by his last job?

Tulsa has had a history of great coaches, the last of which was Danny Manning. Now you bring in...... Frank Haith?

Tulsa will be awful until they get rid of him. His recruiting is not good, I don't know where you get that. He seems to think that if his school isn't directly paying top dollar for recruits, that he doesn't have to go out and try to get them. There are no positives to this hire. ZERO. Check his history, Compadre.

Dude, I suggest you take a break from this board. You're trying too hard to be a constant antagonist with many others here. I assure you Mods have taken notice. Having said that, you don't have a ----' clue about public perception here. Every last college basketball expert has mentioned this as being a wow hire for Tulsa. You're not recently named AP Coach of the Year and from a major conference, sign with a Tulsa, and it's not huge news for that program. Check your common sense, Compadre. Oh by the way, he's recruited players that Memphis would take in a heartbeat. LASTLY, almost every coach in Tulsa's history that's had any success has used that job as a stepping stone. They've never had someone with Haith's pedigree to come there. Learn these things first.

You responded to MY post, in case you forgot.

Public perception? I guess what you mean is "people who don't know anything about college basketball think he's an ok coach" because anyone who understands the game knows he can't coach worth isht. No wonder you like him!

As for recruiting players that Memphis would take, what's your point? We'd take tons of players out there right now, we're rebuilding. Hell, we've got people on this board going apeshit over guys like Allen and Rhett like they're going to take use to the Final Four.

Irrespective of your opinion of Haith's coaching, it's all about public and media perception. This is being hailed as a great hire for Tulsa which sheds a good light on the conference as well.

HAITH'S PEDIGREE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! WHAT THE....... What exactly is his pedigree?

They've had Nolan Richardson, Tubby Smith, Bill Self and Danny Manning. Now they go to FRANK HAITH? That's one way to keep from being a stepping stone program I guess, hire a guy who can't possibily hold a job anywhere else.

The public perception is that Haith is a terrible coach and Tulsa just willingly, purposefully agreed to give him money to do something. It sheds terrible light on Tulsa.

We'll agree to disagree. This is being lauded as a great hire in most media circles and nationwide. Your opinion is in the minority.

Dude, no one gives a rat's azz if YOU think he can’t coach. 95% of everything is "public perception". People would know his name over any assistant or small level coach ( which is what Tulsa would normally have to on settle for), unless it was another Danning Manning, who was an assistant his entire career before he came to Tulsa. As far as recruiting goes, it's as much about filling needs. You can't expect to sign a 4/5 star everytime out. Rhett may obviously fill a need. However, you seem to have all the answers. Lmao..
