The Wooden Oar War AKA Spring Game
Just got done reading this article from the always-appreciated David Drew:
http://www.mlive.com/broncos/index.ssf/2...er_default

It appears that the tradition of having a spring game will be somewhat replaced by a glorified practice-like event thing. There will be no tackling and it will be similar to how they run through plays at the end of normal practices. Families are encouraged to come out as there will be children's activities in the Seelye Center, giveaways and prizes and of course, DJ Illmix will be there.

I dunno, I just want to watch some football.

The spring game is no longer a "practice" ... going to be a traditional scrimmage like previous years.

So Drew was in error, or Peej flip-flopped?

While I'm relieved to hear that, I wonder what provoked the change...

RE: The Wooden Oar War AKA Spring Game
Perhaps somebody explained to Fleck that even in best of weather our Spring Games don't exactly draw like Alabama's, and if it's going to be little more than a glorified practice, even fewer will show,

Not good idea when you're doing something charitable at the event like collecting school supplies to donate.

First we complain that there isn't any contact, next we'll complain that there was contact that resulted in injuries. Hard to make some people happy.03-yawn

It's hard to practice the game of football without tackling each other.

Clearly the handful of malcontents on Bronco Stampede that complain about everything he does.

Whether they tackle or not, I hope a tickle fight breaks out in the crowd.

RE: The Wooden Oar War AKA Spring Game
I used to enjoy the spring game with the Gary Fund reception and coaches talk. Good opportunity to meet up with other Bronco fans that we had not seen in awhile. The game was always more show than anything, but fun to watch.

Last year's get together has still left a bad taste in my mouth. I need to put it in the past where it belongs, but it is still hard to get pumped for this years event. It is the Saturday before Easter so there are a lot of dinner entrees to start preparing. On top of that both my son and granddaughter are racing up north in the evening, so I have more important things to do that day. Sort of settles it for me

For those that go, hope you have a good time. Let the rest of us know how it went.

Heard rumors there might be a couple streakers there. That would be a gas.

That'll probably be Fleck's fault too.

My boys will be game for the hot dogs and stuff, but probably not the reception. Good luck to your granddaughter belt!
