I would also be a bit more excited if this was Todd McShay's projection, as opposed to Mel Kiper's. It's like Kiper drinks his own kool-aid. Kiper was the one after all that said something about Jimmy Clausen being an NFL ready quarterback a few years back.

Every draft expert has major mistakes.

McShay believed that “ten years from now, we’re going to say Limas Sweed was the most productive and most talented wide receiver in the 2008 NFL Draft class.”

You may or may not remember 2008 as the year DeSean Jackson and Jordy Nelson were drafted. You also may remember Sweed from his UT days, but probably not for his 69 career receiving yards. His signature play?

I thought this was timely funny. Sad to say, Mel Kiper is present from top-to-bottom on this list, either cause he misses more often than most, he has been around longer than most, he speaks louder than most, he is bolder with his predictions than most, or some combination of these. In any event, Gaines will be a great prospect despite Kiper!

ESPN and the NFL have done such an amazing job marketing the draft as 'an event' as many of us can remember when you did not have these guys on TV on each Sportscenter breaking down players and teams. It is entertainment. College people like to follow their teams/guys (e.g. Philip and Boz in our case) and pro people like to debate who/what their team needs. ESPN and NFL play to that w/ blowhards like Kiper who speaks with great sounding authority but in reality does not have any crystal ball. That is why each team has its own people to evaluate.

owlbrett..thanks for the link. That was a great article and not something you are going to see mainstream b/c it is not in ESPN's or NFL's interest to showcase busts and mistakes. They want to just show the crystal ball part so more eyeballs tune-in the weeks/months before the draft and of course on draft day itself.

Geesh, I miss Joel Buschbaum (sp?)-he really knew his stuff, as opposed to Mel Loudmouth, Stupidhair, Talking throwing his head to the back left (everytime I see him I think of costner in JFK repeating "back and to the left") Kiper.

I just read that the cardinals worked out Bos and they love him! Kickers don't usually go too high in the draft but they are saying he can go in round 5 02-13-banana

I've seen Phillip mocked all over the place. He has had a good experience with visits and workouts so we will wait to see! So excited for all the boys!!

Sports Illustrated just had a piece that put Gaines at #81 overall...looks like he is getting a bit of respect at least. I'm also loving those white helmets with the owl wing silhouettes used in his pic...

Yea I love those helmets. I know the boys felt really special in those helmets. As I said before, I see Phillip all over the place. I see Durate posted that Mayock has him in the 4th or 5th round. I can't seem to find this from Mayock but I remember him saying something like this right after the combine. One guy had him in the 6th on one day and then the very next day it went to 3rd....lol. I guess we will see how it all works out next week. Can't wait to see him. He has been very busy! Did anyone see a tweet from Porras about him pursuing his dream of playing football? I believe it was either with a Canadian team or some other league. I need to go dig it up. He is such a great player!

Four days ago, Paul tweeted an Instragram photo saying he and "My boy @drain17" had worked out for the Toronto Argonauts.

A day later, he tweeted a photo composite captioned "Chasing my dream!" But it didn't mention any team name.

It's not often that a parent can say that about their child with pride and love. Congrats, and good luck when the day comes!

Saw a prediction of last pick in the second round, #64 to Seattle.
