Qb play and defense will determine our season.

And if Clark ever decides to kickoff to start the second half after we deferred during the coin toss.

RE: Bowl game or Fail?
If you look at the last couple seasons, there are several games where you can say "we should have won this game, if only..."
I think Coach Clark and staff will work hard and have enough coaching sense to keep us from saying "if only" as much... I think this coaching staff is easily worth one or two extra wins from last season, but saying the B word is hard right now.

"Luck" is said to be what happens when preparation meets opportunity. With what I have read about this coaching staff, I expect our luck to improve a lot in the coming season. I especially want to see UAB luckier when pressuring and occasionally sacking opposing QBs. That is the beginning of improving on defense. Only a handful of QBs can run for their lives and keep their eyes down field reading coverage.

Just like Davis was after Anderson and Haase still is after Davis.
That's why I don't put absolute, blind faith in a coach until I see some results on the court or field.
We should be better next year in basketball. I think we will be better in football as well.

RE: Bowl game or Fail?
Davis was going to be a disaster from the get go to anybody looking at it objectively. Anderson recruited athletes and let them be athletes. Davis recruited whoever the hell he could find at the last minute and tried to turn them into basketball players. He literally took a bunch of guys used to playing Anderson's style and tried to get them to play the slowest 40 minutes in basketball. I was always skeptical of the hire because of the pace of play issue. Once he got his guys in there, he did a decent enough job.
McGee never wanted to be at UAB in my opinion. I never met the guy, and I only went off of comments he made and body language. I have no problem with a guy wanting to use UAB as a stepping stone, but I do have a problem with a guy who thinks he's above the program. It was evident early on that he was not going to work.
Haase has done everything right but win games up to this point. I expect different results moving forward under his watch, but that's just a waiting game at this point. He was left to clean up a mess when he got here, and I believe he just finished that doing that when last season ended. If we go 7-9 again with the pieces we have returning and coming in, I'll start to get concerned.

Clark's got more head coaching experience than our last two coaches combined.
Two former offensive coordinators who didn't call their own plays.

I may be a lone voice in the wilderness, but what he did at Prattville matters to me.

What a novel concept. I get a kick out of the instant sunshine-pumping every time a new coach is hired.

I always hope better things are ahead, and am admittedly shameless in seeing signs of it wherever I can find them.

I definitely think better things are ahead for both football and basketball. However, unlike most, I don't completely discount the last two seasons under Haase. His first season was a wash to me. His second season we underperformed by about 5-6 wins. He's been a great recruiter and set us up for a solid foundation, but actually winning games is what counts. I look forward to him doing that next season.

How did we underperform by 5-6 wins? I'm just curious why that is the case. I really think some people vastly overrated the talent we had on that basketball team.

RE: Bowl game or Fail?
I thought we'd win 22 or 23, which wasn't unreasonable given our schedule. That's 4-5 games off. There were several games that were really close that could've gone our way, so there's your 6th.

I'm not talking about our schedule, I'm talking about the actual players on the court. It was evident early on that it wasn't going to be a 23 win season.
