If you ever get a chance to watch "Requiem of the Big East"
on ESPN, don't miss it. It shows how the Big East was created by Dave Gavitt, the transformation from a group of small urban universities to the best league in the country, and then how money and football ruined it.
Terrific documentary. And some of the footage of the games that were more like street fights than basketball. It was great TV for any basketball fan. It was on the show 30 for 30.

Yes. It was well done and very interesting to me. I moved out of New York in the mid-70's and when a friend mentioned "the Big East" to me, several years later, I didn't even know what he was talking about.
