RE: Tennessee's immense level of dysfunction
Cuonzo is a smart man. They had the easiest draw to the sweet 16 that I can remember. He is cashing in his chips while he is ahead. The roster at UT was bad and he wasn't recruiting well enough to replace the guys he was losing. So he maybe gets 2 more years at UT if he stays. He gets 4 fresh years at Cal. If you look at Cuonzo's resume before this year, he is lucky to be in consideration for other jobs. He should probably give a cut of his check to the Mercer coach for beating Duke for him. Plus UT was never going in big on basketball. They are going to devote their resources to fixing their football program which is probably at least 2 years away from being competitve in their league. I imagine that caused some tension between him and the administration. The petition to fire him was ridiculous, but people here say the same about Josh. If a coach can't handle fans complaining on the internet then it's time to do something else.

Forde wrote the easy column, Tennessee has had all kinds of trouble the last 6 or 7 years. But losing Cuonzo Martin is not going to break that school or AD. In the end, when all the coaches with Final 4's on their resumes turn them down, they are going to end up with someone who had a similar resume to Cuonzo when he got there and they will have the same chance at success as they would have with him.

Embarrassing. It's even more embarrassing when it's a little brother program throwing a fit in front of the whole country.
