That would be tempting.

Owls getting a lesson in hitting the ball where it's pitched: Several of the Cardinals' hits in B4 were on pitches that were clearly high and outside ... and hit effectively to the opposite field. We're wiffing on those sorts of pitches. Why?

And then our bullpen is shunk down to just Duplantier and Ditman?

Exactly....but we never, ever learn this lesson.

As soon as I said this, McCarthy's first batter Ks wildly on a pitch way outside. LOL. We love it when they do it!

I said tempting, not smart. Arms needed everywhere.

RE: Rice @ Lamar (Tuesday Baseball)
Nice job by McCarthy not allowing any more damage. Given Chase wasn't going to pitch more than 3-4 innings anyway, I wonder why The OG waited so long to make the move to the bullpen. With the way our offense is going through the motions, this game may already be way out of reach. Carver hasn't pitched longer than 2 .2 innings in any game except against us-- he went 4 innings his first outing, and is one-hitting us into the fifth on this one.

This guy is pitching a one hitter. My we are a compliant bunch tonight. It must be Lamar's homecoming or something.

Cards now out hitting Owls by 10-1...and B5 still going. This does not seem to be the same team we saw last Tuesday.

Just one of those nights for Rice. We may come back tonight yet but the games that matter this week are the ones against UAB.

Yup. Was hoping Ryan McCarthy would show some form because we desperately need the pitching depth right now with Zech on the shelf. Escaped the 4th, but not looking good here in the 5th.

8-0 now top of the 6th. Cook singled to lead off the inning so we're now being outhit 12-2.

Unfortunately form and mechanics go hand in hand. I would settle for a mechanics tune up and form will follow.

Ok, whatever is needed for him to be effective again. We are a pitcher short right now and neither Caleb nor Ryan have stepped up to fill the void. And now with Chase struggling, we REALLY need someone to step up.

Pitching chase - finally got Cy Carver out of there. Rice bases juiced, no out. Williamson pinch-hitting for Aquino (who didn't look very good on his first two at-bats) grounds out to score a run. 8-1. We quickly do nothing with the next two at-bats so 8-1 heading to the bottom of the 6th. I get the sense we'll empty the bench before tonight is through.

We need to recruit a soft-tossing lefty so we can practice against him/her

This one is clearly on me, guys. I am in Windsor, Canada for business this week. Last time I was up here, the football Owls sleepwalked through a date in Denton, and tonight, well...
