Nice find BLEEDBLUE, Harry thinks so as well!

From BLEEDBLUE "We warned you earlier that we have entered “list” season. No actual news to report, just create a list. ..... It may not be award winning but it helps get everyone closer to August 30th. Athlon Sports threw together a list today and correctly identified Bobby Wilder as a top 12 coach on the rise for 2014.

Oh no, the secret is out of the bag. Now we'll have to fight off all of the suitors.

Not sure we really want Wilder on such lists. We want him to stay for at least a decade and build his legacy at ODU.

he's won a ton of games and is now a full time FBS coach. the next two seasons will tell a lot. if we fall on our faces this season and have a losing record then I doubt he'll be on any lists next year and if thats the case I'm fine with him being on all kinds of lists!

If he leaves ODU he is taking the staff with him. Some of them coaches have been together for years.

A real double-edge sword here. You want the success to keep him on the lists, but them you risk losing him to the Power 5. Hopefully there will be success, and he will realize that he should stay because this program is his baby and he has a great thing here. Heck, if he stays another 10 years they will call the new stadium Wilder Field at ______ Stadium.

Maybe Coach Wilder will be our Shaka Smart.

I believe that Bobby Wilder is committed to ODU like Joe Pa was to Penn State. Monarch football is his baby. He fathered it, he nurtured it in its infancy, he taught it how to walk, and he is guiding it into manhood. I don't think anyone will be able to entice him to leave. They will be able to take away his ODU football when they can pry it from his cold, cold hands.

I am a huge fan of Coach Wilder. And would put him on my list of heroes in life.

With the above being said, until we have a balanced team (i.e. a consistent competitive defense.....that doesn't ever allow the slaughter rule to be envoked against us) then there is still work to be done in my eyes. I hope he Coach Wilder knows that. And is preparing to demonstrate his balanced coaching skills. I won't accept the weaknesses are on his subordinates.....he is the head coach. We have major issues on defense and until we we are competitive at stopping a true D1 FBS offensive team Coach Wilder should be focusing on building and maintaining his house and not moving to another.

I love Wilder, would never even have dreamed the success we've had over a very short period. I don't want him to leave, but would fully support his decision to go elsewhere if he felt it was best for him.

Sure, the teams not perfect and never will be. And that goes with any team. BUt, look at the bottom line and he has been nothing short of amazing.

I don't think Bobby is focusing on anything but winning with ODU. he's on a list of up and coming coaches. thats it. you could even argue that he's gotten a promotion from a FCS coach to FBS coach and he didn't have pack a bag.

Look at the recruits' comments about why they choose ODU.......many discuss the flood of PERSONALIZED interaction, frequency of contact, and quality of those contacts during recruiting visits.

BW will leave ODU one day, but he is building one hell of a legacy from nothing more than a powerpoint presentation 5 years ago.

So true Smitty, I had mentioned this in another thread and it is fitting here. College Football recruiting is all about perception, relationships, trust and the wow factor. We are working on the Wow Factor. I was wrong. Our staff is our WOW factor.

Let's hope Jack Cosgrove doesn't get an offer to coach somewhere else.
