Killing time after turning in a huge assignment...wondering if any Pet owners on the board?
I don't have any of my own due to my landlord but would get a dog if I could. My parents have a (our) black lab, a cat that I don't claim, and a badass cat (he hunts and beats up the other cats in the neighborhood, what's not to like). We had a chocolate lab before that. As a kid we had a walker...wild ass dog. I don't really remember her.
If I were to get one today I'd probably adopt because there's a lot of good dogs in the local shelters. If I were to get a puppy I'd have a hard time choosing between a Chessie, Lab, Malinois or Golden. All of the other breeds I like are too hard to find in this part of the state. I've always thought wirehaired pointing griffons were pretty cool.
I went many years w/o a pet. I have allergies and frankly didn't want one.
But my son wanted one, and proved he'd be responsible. So we got a parakeet.
From the outset, I thought this would be a questionable pet. But the bird has got a lot of personality, and is pretty fun for all of us. He clearly favors my son, so that's a good thing too.
I have a dog. I kept her after my last ex and I broke up. She's pretty cool even though she is a frilly dog. She's a morkie. I love the hell out of that little dog. She looks like a Yorkie, except she hasn't silvered at all, with white back feet and a white star on her forehead.
My last dog was part Boxer and part Pit Bull. Big red puppy was all he was. When anyone came into our driveway he'd lick them to death. You sit in a chair outside, he tried to climb in your lap like he was still a puppy.
I have two Shih Tzu's. Fun dogs who like to play and also like to sit in your lap. One is a therapy dog at the school where my wife works. She loves the kids and helps keep the office mellowed out as well. We think the young one will make a good therapy dog as well.
I was the lone hold out for many years between my wife and two kids for having a pet. I finally "gave in" over 3 years ago when we brought home our Bischon Frise named Rocky. He is 20 lbs. full of love and loyalty and the breed is very playful, good with kids, travels in a vehicle quite well and most importantly...is a non-shedding/hypoallergenic dog. He looks similar to this:

Looks like a cotton ball. I knew someone with one once, very energetic.

my mom has one of them. i didn't want to like it because it was a small dog but cosby forced me to love him. i couldn't recommend that breed enough. i took him for a walk one day and he found the only puddle full of mud in a mile radius to bathe in. and then he ran back in forth to me and the puddle about 20 times. dropped him off at my moms and said i had to skate
Quote:Dude, that's amazing. But what's most amazing is that the bird can keep time and tempo.
Hookbills(parrots)are one of the few known species of animals that understands rhythm, tempo and time signatures.
These birds use songs and rhythmic motions to communicate and to express themselves. They are natural music lovers. Here is the Cockatoo a cousin of the Cockatiel.
You can tell at the end of the video that the bird enjoys the praise and feels confident about his performance.
