Consider this. If Phoenix was in the eastern division they would be one game back from having home court in the first round. Being in the west they are missing the playoffs.

Shameful when a sub 500 team is in the playoffs while a team who is 10 ahead of them in league standings is sitting home. 3 of the Eastern playoff teams have worst record than Phoenix while Chicago and Toronto is only 1 ahead of them.

It's kinda strange how the Western Conference has been so much better for so long. The divide shouldn't be this big. The salary cap and draft should even out the two conferences eventually. But, I really do think that there is some horrible management in the Eastern Conference.

Taking the best 16 is a good idea, but also doing what the nhl did in reorganizing the conferences to make the geographically balanced would be another. The grizzlies have no business being in the western conference neither does New Orleans

Sending Milwaukee to the West and Memphis to the East would help balance out things, both talent-wise and geographically.

NBA is definitely over due for some restructure and would see immediate benefits from it.

This divide goes deeper, because these are best of 7s, throughout the playoffs (I still think first round should revert to 5).

The suggestions I've heard have required even scheduling (i.e. play everyone else 2 or 3 times, none really preserved unbalanced scheduling). How a 3 per would work for the hoe and homes I haven't an idea.

Maybe 6 rotating pods of 5, kind of like what the PAC was considering when they considered absorbing many of the Big 12 and go to 16. But Stern insisted the only way to seed 1-16 would require balanced scheduling. I wonder if Silver shares that perspective.

It's going to suck if they integrate the 2 conferences and we lose the natural rivalries we get to look forward to every year. It's funny that everyone talks about how unfair it is to the suns but really it's worse for the ****** eastern teams who suck but now can't pick in the lottery, while Phoenix gets to.
