RE: New Fla St Uniforms for 2014
Don't particularly like the Nike promo pics (too purplish). Seen others that also feel similarly. However, the actual uniforms looked pretty sharp earlier when modeled downtown this evening at a Booster/Spring Game tailgate function.

The new Seminole head that is still a split topic amongst fans but a lot have come around to it over the past week and with the release of the new uniforms. The garnet is a little darker in order to keep the color consistent across all materials (both athletic uniforms and fan apparel). The collar and sleeve pattern is pretty sweet and authentic Seminole patchwork. We already had a pattern around the collar and on the sleeves so it's not a drastic change and also pays homage to the Seminole Tribe, which past versions did not. The numbers are the new, goofy, oversized crap that Nike seems to be pushing on everybody but it's not the end of the world.

All in all, solid "re-brand" or whatever you want to call it. At this point I'm just going to wait and see if Nike actually follows through on their one, uniform garnet promise.

The new logo is absolute garbage. The one they had was way better and it isn't even close. The new one looks like he is rearing back to receive something....

The numbers are bad too but I can deal with that.

The rest of the parts are fine . The logo really should not be changed though.

I really didnt see a need for change as programs building a tradition dont need radical changes. They arent a team like Oregon that is about flash and without a huge history of succes.

I think they look sharp. Not enough of a change to be made fun of and enough of a difference so that the current players like it.

Some people are acting like children and whining incessantly over the changes.

What's weird is I REALLY like the garnet and black versions. For some reason though, the white version looks weird to me.

Yeah, I don't like the gold numbers on a white background. Seems like it needs more contrast.

I like the new logo - it looks tougher than the old one. But I have no problems with either one, TBH.

I tend to prefer my uniforms more traditional. These aren't such a departure from that as to be offensive. I figured that when Oregon and Maryland started a race to see which school could ugly up its uniforms the most that it wouldn't be long till other schools jumped on board. At least the Noles didn't go that far over the edge.

Don't think the black ones look good, at all. It's just not FSU (despite ties between the Seminole Tribe and the color black). But a decent amount of people have said they like them a lot. We've had black uniforms for years now and have rarely used them, so it's not like these are going to be in our regular rotation anyways.

I actually like the white the most. It just seems more crisp, or clean (tremendous adjective usage). The garnet is great, too. It's the most classic-looking of the bunch.

Would've been interested in seeing a gold top, good or bad. They have garnet pants but didn't showcase them. I don't think we've worn anything other than gold pants and alternating white/garnet tops since Fisher's been head coach. Lot of fans have wanted, at the very least, to see our all whites or all garnets again. Hopefully we do that, especially now that we have these new ones. You want to showcase them.

Yes, I would like to see what they could do with that, too. What color pants - white, black, or garnet?

Most likely garnet. Probably looks the best. Think black would look pretty awful, and we've never mix and matched with the black before. White might be alright. Don't know what all gold would look like but would like to see it made, even if it's just a prototype.

This is just a concept designer's mockup from before the new FSU release (totally unrelated). Mainly just showing that gold on garnet can work, at least I think it works in the pic. There weren't any gold on white/gold/black mockups on the site though.

I don't personally care for all gold uniforms. I don't like GT's golds, UCF's golds...In my mind gold should be shiny and that's hard to pull off with jersey material. That's why they look dull to me. You can pull off gold helmets because of the sheen.

Georgia Tech just has awful uniforms. They're like Miami in that they're constantly pumping out new styles every few years, too. At least Miami has a general design that's worked for the last 10-15 years though. GT doesn't have jack.

But I like these UCF all golds. So all gold can work, depending on the style.

Georgia Tech is more or less Russell Athletics' flagship. So joy of joys we get some truly horrific stuff. Only without the brand cred or distribution channels or merchandise variety of a Nike or Under Armor. But Russell did throw bags of money at GT for the privilege, and the GTAA is in no position to say no.

It wasn't always that way. Russell's throwbacks for the VT false start parade last year were easily the best they've come out with in years.

But if you go back before the time of wacky uniforms ... it was pretty good.

I am a HUGE FAN of the 1990 "Coliseum Era" look ... Navy tops, gold dome, white pants with a gold/black stripe.

FWIW ... my one stab at creating a uni. (Go through all the alts before griping about black)

... and be sure to check "display custom logos"

The throwback is nice. So are the two beneath it. The "further back" stuff is weak though. Feels like old school Pitt, which wasn't great looking either.

As for your designs, I don't get the black. And blue isn't an official GT color?

There is some history of black in the program and colors. Black is used commonly in lesser roles, but is best known in the 80's for the black watch defense that wore helmets with black GT logos on them.

Navy is an official color, as are white and gold.
