Not sure what was with the cancellation of the memorial but the passing of this young man was very big news in Eastern NC. He was rushed to the hospital in Greenville (New Bern is about 45 minutes away). When they carried him back to New Bern his body was escorted in a very long police motorcade, fire trucks raised flags over the road, etc. It was a very big deal, as it should be. There was a ceremony aired on local television for him, I'm not sure if it was the wreath laying ceremony or funeral.

Anyway it's pretty stupid for the New Bern mayor to pull a stunt like this. He's an idiot and so was the mayor before him. Eastern NC either has the dumbest politicians on both sides of the spectrum.
