When a black votes with republicans he is dismissed as "not black" or an "Uncle Tom"... That, in and of itself is the pinnacle of a party using race to get votes..

Now on the flip side the left holds I should be ashamed of my race and if I am not worried about the evils of whiteness then clearly I am a racist...

But you need to be careful also when you see commercials for example about welfare or any other form of government assistance an then shows pictures of black people. This is very common. This is the kind of tactic that subconsciously tells white people that only blacks use government assistance when if fact, more whites are on welfare.

Even people on this forum attempt to attribute certain kinds of crimes to blacks so that others will begin to believe that only blacks commit these types of crimes.

Wrong on both counts.

But to help you better understand the nation's position on welfare and blacks, 39.8% of welfare recipients are black, compared to 38.8% white, so there's that...

As for "only" blacks committing crimes or certain crimes, you can blame that on the black community for telling lies to their own people...

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, 59.5% of inmates are white, while 37.2% are black... Yet according to the website for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, blacks are jailed at six times the rate of whites, and whites use drugs at five times the rate of blacks, yet blacks get jailed at ten times the rate... The black community is lying to the hispanics and blacks, so that sucks for you I guess.

And we have a winner.

Finally, you understand that it's blacks lying to blacks about blacks to make them hate whites...

That's a good observation. Perhaps during the civil rights era, the only 'power' they had was in sticking together and their needs were pretty singular. They were only perhaps 13% of the population, but like transportation workers or garbage workers or police or fire, they were a pretty vital 13%. Today, the needs of the black community still have some large cohorts, but NOT ALL of them are in the same bucket... so while they still vote together almost out of habit, they aren't necessarily voting for the same reasons any more.

That's like producing a million red cars and 100 green ones, and saying that more people drive red cars... Well no shiit. I don't think you'd want to go by percentages though.

Bud... couldn't you just as easily say that their racism kicks in and they vote AGAINST the GOP?

The argument was that people are trying to sway votes. If you're trying to sway votes... you don't care if those votes are from white or black people... you only care about the numbers. Percentages are irrelevant.

Whites generally vote about 50/50 with a swing perhaps to 60/40 and what is good for a poor black person is also often good for a poor white person. Eyeballing your numbers and assuming all of those people on food stamps vote...

almost 17mm of the 45mm on food stamps aren't in play at all. The GOP is 'fighting' over the difference between 60% and 40% of the remaining 28mm... or about a swing of 6mm potential votes out of 300mm. That's all we're talking about here. By definition, the 1% are only about 3mm people... many of whom are staunch Democrats... The 'swing' there is probably less than 500,000 votes.

The "FIGHT" is for the middle... and not either extreme as so many want to argue.

I don't disagree. However, I still believe that the middle can subconsciously be swayed when they are bombarded with images of blacks committing crimes, using drugs, and using government assistance. This in turn prompts them to vote for tougher sentences, keeping drugs illegal, and cutting social programs. All of these are things the GOP supports.

I think they'd be for those things regardless but, being more inclined to perceive things a certain way, I do see the imagery that you're talking about.

Wait a minute...

You guys are simultaneously arguing that large percentages of minorities are on welfare and that they make up a significant percentage of the totals on assistance, but that it is racist to demonstrate that fact.

If it's true, then isn't the FAR more likely reason that this is what is demonstrated because it is what is true rather than some nebulous claim of racism?

FTR, while certainly poor blacks are shown... so are poor whites. There just isn't anybody out there looking for images of poor whites to use as a racist rally cry. The fact is that most inner city poor are black, and most rural poor are white... and because the black are more concentrated and the white more dispersed, any picture of large numbers of people standing in unemployment lines is going to more likely be in a large city where blacks are more predominant. If you're trying to paint a picture, do you want to show 20 people lining up in Bugtussle, West Virginia for the one job at the saw mill or 200 people showing up for the 15 jobs at the McDonald's in urban Atlanta?

The hypocrisy of your statement just rammed it's dick down your throat and punched a hole in your jeans when it exploded out of your ass hole with your pancreas and half a lung impaled on it like a shishkabob...

I am going to add to what you said and do so in a non-PC way. The other thing is that it is acceptable -- in fact, it is seen as a right -- to get government assistance in the black community. Blacks have been programmed by the so-called leaders of the community that these handouts are payments they deserve due to slavery and discrimination. In rural white communities, welfare is stigmatized. People talk about you and describe you as white trash. Unless you've given up or just old, white people in these communities do not want this assistance due to the stigma. They would rather work, if jobs are available. But, if you are white and need the assistance, you would rather sign up in secret. IF you are black, you have no problem with doing it in public...in fact, you might tell others and go together.

I don't wholly disagree, but here's one thing you're missing: getting government assistance is also stigmatized amongst black people. Now maybe you've grown up in a more metro area, while I have rural roots, but it won't be taken well if an older black person or a working black person find out somebody's on food stamps with a bunch of children or something like that. It's just that they'll insult them behind their backs rather than go out and say it in public.

That is exactly what they want you to believe. That black people are the cause of the problem. This is what makes ignorant middle class people vote for Republicans.

yeah, if it wasn't for that pesky racism problem, we'd be all about class warfare, wealth distribution and growing the size of govt.

Sorry that I missed this...

This is an example of figures not lying but liars figuring... All of these statements are true if you manipulate the figures in a particular way.

In the simplest example, a 100% positive return one year and a 50% negative return the next implies a net 50% positive return, right? But we all know the actual return is zero... and if you consider the time value of money or inflation, negative.

People often manipulate figures to present things that sound right but really aren't.

If you don't think blacks lie to blacks to hold power over certain segments of the black population then you are a complete fool.

This in turn prompts them to vote for tougher sentences, keeping drugs illegal, and cutting social programs. All of these are things the GOP supports.

The middle can also be subconsciously swayed when they are bombarded by constant calls of racism in response to honest policy differences... or being told that giving one group of people an advantage over another based on race is only racism if 'certain people' do it.

Affirmative action IS reverse racism, put in place to try and 'fix' the results from years of racism. Rather than pretend that it is 'fair', we should all be comfortable with the idea that it is intentionally unfair. By now, with large numbers of black people no longer being relegated to being poor... the black community should unite around something other than 'slavery'. Any 'reverse' policy meant to correct the wrongs of the past lose efficacy and support when the people who 'took' the advantage have been dead for 100 years or more. That doesn't make it right... That doesn't make it go away... but it DOES start to replace one wrong with another wrong when being 'poor' is still a problem that can be addressed... It just isn't merely a 'black' problem.

Anything done to help poor people will obviously have a greater impact on the black community than the white by percentage... but any assistance to poor people is obviously not bound in racism. Rather than keeping us divided along racial lines, you would actually unite large portions of the races.

Consistent with past research (Sniderman & Carmines, 1997; Tesler & Sears, 2010b), explicit racism was more common among Republicans than among Democrats in all years. In 2008, the proportion of people expressing anti Black attitudes was 31% among Democrats, 49% among independents, and 71% among Republicans, highly significant differences (p<.001). In 2012, the proportion of people expressing anti Black attitudes was 32% among Democrats, 48% among independents, and 79% among Republicans, again highly significant differences (p<.001).

Power... the questions listed (if anyone cares to do the work to read them) are phrased in a way that is designed to elicit the response. As an example, Republicans generally believe that if you work harder, you will get ahead... and they are generally against 'special treatment'... so the question say things like :

“Irish, Italians, Jewish, and other minorities overcame prejudice and worked their way up. Blacks should do the same without special favors.”

To claim that the response to this in the affirmative is 'anti-black' is wrong. It is anti-laziness. The respondents aren't accusing blacks of being lazy... they are saying they should have the same opportunity as everyone else, because they are just as capable as everyone else.

The questions are designed to take advantage of Republican attitudes about 'working hard to get ahead' and equal opportunity, plus their frustration with the liberal policies of Barack Obama who happens to be black and spends a lot of time engaging in class warfare to paint them as racists.

I can believe that Republicans are more racist than Liberals on a percentage basis. But really, who causes the most harm?

A white dude shaking his head at a couple of black thugs and voting for Romney? Nope. Because that dude will go right back to his daily life of hard work, raising his family, and generally being a good all around guy, regardless of stereotyping a local kid wearing a hoodie and drinking a ice tea.

The real root and institutional racist is the Pro-Discrimination Liberal because Pro-Discrimination Liberals believe that minorities are too dumb to make smart choices..

Because progressive redistribution makes black people poorer. Because government programs for blacks make black people poorer. Because Leftist social polices make black people poorer. Leftism is nothing but the quintessential good intention that paves the road to hell while making you feel oh-so-good about yourself at the actual expense of minorities.

I'm disgusted, and you should be ashamed.
