I think UConn would fit in just fine regardless of enrollment....

Most of the Big 10 blows balls in the major sports, so they would do good to get an actual good team for expansion

and the point still stand. uconn's enrollment does not fit in with the b10. uconn fans need to drop the subject.

Yes, because this particular thread was started by a UCONN fan... 01-wingedeagle

take it up with your boy melkey who tried to argue uconns enrollment was in line with the b10

You chimed in on this thread before any UCONN fan did! 03-lmfao

Everyone on here and the AAC board knows you can't resist posting on a UCONN-related thread.

because it is a thread about uconn & the b10 ==> do I have to paint a picture for you???

and it goes much further than enrollment. endowment, post grad emphasis, aau, campus setup, stadium size etc.

uconn makes literally no sense in the b10.

On July 1 it will start to make some sense.

I just don't see the original 10 big 10 members wanting to dilute themselves by going so east coast if they cap themselves at 16 members. They got a chunk with rutgers and maryland. OF course, that doesn't bring in new england into the fold + uconn got hockey but if the cap is 16, i don't see uconn ever in the big 10. If the cap goes past 16, than yeah uconn works. I guess that is the key, how much expansion for the big 10? if its 16, i see 2 from KU, missouri and OU being the most likely…the addition of OU would make it much more likely the big 10 jumps past 16 though. With Missouri and KU, that is the perfect setup for 16. The other school i think the big 10 could land is FSU to pair with KU.

UCONN lacks ONE THING that ALL Big Ten members have... and that is history of BIG TIME FOOTBALL. They weren't a BCS member at its creation in the 1990's and have really only been playing real FBS since their football program joined their other sports in the Big East in 2004. A decade isn't a strong enough of a program to even think about being BIG TEN! IMHO!

When a conference invites Rutgers who has accomplished less than UConn, you can't blame us for thinking about being Big Ten.

Now I will sit back and allow the realignment savant wizard know it all known as John to refute any accomplishments UConn has ever made in football...the floor is yours John.

its not so much the accomplishments but the investments worth taking on a school. if the b10 has proven anything they care more about the total package rather than what FB accomplishments a school brings.

July 1 = The date when Rutgers and Maryland join the conference.

So... I'm saying that adding UConn starts to make more sense in that context.

BB makes up 20% of sports revenue
By far football is the big winner.
UConn is not the NYC region with its 35 million people
UConn is not AAU

Despite the preponderance of thinking to the contrary I think the looming TV contract and focus on the East will drive this forward.

In 10 years UConn will look like a Big Ten university. So... I think the leaders of the Big Ten will accept the positive energy there (and perhaps get caught up in some of the hype) and this will happen.

The alternative is?????? Not many alternatives out there.

Notre Dame and Duke numbers don't look too good either...

University of Phoenix and Central Florida on the other hand...

Yes, I agree.

Jim Delany should forego trying to get the first two to join and go after the latter two for Big Ten membership. :)

the b10 already added 3 schools for that upcoming tv contract. wtf would they need a 4th school????

there is NO amount of value that uconn brings that makes them worth adding. all uconn is is a school that we take another slice of the pie without contributing anything to make the pie bigger.

Which is why if it does get done it will get done with the next TV contract. UConn doesn't have to hold her own in that case to avoid reducing the current payout.

the b10 is not gonna add a school just for the sake of adding a school.

when was the last time a p5 conference added more than 3 schools at once????

and besides there are plenty of bigger fish out there. uconn has a better chance of getting into the pac12 than the b10.
