The event will begin with a Huskie happy hour and VIP facilities tour at 5:00 pm, Coach Carey will make his final postgame speech at 9:00 pm. The evening will include a full buffet & refreshments all provided by Buffalo Wild Wings here in DeKalb, along with a silent auction featuring exclusive memorabilia, and a special NIU Football themed gift. The price per person is $125 and all proceeds directly benefit NIU football.

Meant to go to this event this year, but buying a house and going to spend Easter weekend in MKE with the girlfriend's family put a damper on that. Next year I suppose.

Really had a good time last year. I'm going again this year. It was a lot of fun and nice to talk with the coaches and ex-players in a casual environment.

Last year, they held a practice which ended right before the X's and O's clinic. Anyone know what the practice schedule is for next Friday? I would suspect 7 am, but didn't know if they would switch it or not. It was nice to be able to catch a practice before as well.

someone i know went last year and said it was one of the best events he ever attended. Learned alot about out football strtegy, keys the QBs look for when they run a play. He said it gave him a new appreation for the game.

Yeah GCD, by far the best part was the QB/WR session. There were a lot of great details about what the QB needs to look for at the line to decide which way the play is run, etc. That's also when I gained a lot of appreciation for Thad Ward. He impressed me the most of all the coaches.

If this event is even HALF as fun & as cool as the Women's Football 101 clinic I went to last year, I encourage you guys to go.

We had a blast & I agree with NIUslumo that having one on one time with coaches & players is awesome.

Last year the memorabilia that came out of the event was a used jersey and football which were signed by all the NFL guys. There were also various what I would call "left over" gifts (bags/watches/etc) from previous bowl games.

I really hope they have some things auctioned off on the 19th.

See you there. I personally wore a Burner jersey (since he was there last year). Everyone was pretty casual. Huskie gear for the most part.

Awesome! I'll probably wear my Garrett Wolfe bears jersey. I think the one thing I'm looking forward to the most is the tour of the locker room and IPF

Me too. Looking forward to the tours for sure. I tweeted Carey and told him to lead in a singing of The Hard Way at the end in the locker room. But I'm not holding my breath.

Quote:Headlining the list of pros for the 2014 event is Super Bowl winning offensive tackle and 10-year NFL player Ryan Diem, and former Chicago Bears running back and Chicago native Garrett Wolfe. Sycamore product Jason Schepler, who was signed by the Tennessee Titans this offseason, will be on hand as will former NIU tight end Brad Cieslak, who played for the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns during a four-year NFL career. In addition, Dan Graham, an NIU center who played for the Tampa Bay Bucs in 1989, will offer a more "historical" perspective on the league. More pros may be added in the coming days.

For those of you who went...

There was a tweet about Carey giving an update on recruiting.

Was this new kid who signed for this class mentioned?

What was the general vibe you got from Carey about how the next class is coming?

I went and he was very vague about the recruiting class, just saying that most of them are here for the spring game and that we will see 6 or 7 see the field this year. I was hoping he would go into more detail but didnt.

I really enjoyed the event and would definitely go next year. Seeing the locker room and the new IPF was breathtaking. Made me want to donate more money...and kinda did with winning an auction item.

I talked to a couple of coaches outside of Carey's talk. They mentioned there were recruits there this weekend that may be late adds for this year. No specifics on who, nor did I ask though.

I will say that chicken or whatever it was from BWW wasn't very good. I've had better boneless wings from Jewel. Even a hotdog or brat would have been better.

Other than that I enjoyed the program and would do it again. Actually, I went last year too.
