The enemy of my enemy is my friend, or so some say. UNC fans are a different class of special in my opinion. Most didn't go there, and most UNC alum wouldn't even let the majority of UNC fans clean their toilets. I despise everything about their school and fans except my best friend growing up who went there for some unknown reason bless her heart.

State and ECU is a healthy rivalry. I only hold ill will towards them on gamedays. ECU trounced them 7-0 on the diamond the other day by the way. I respect state fans for the moat part, even if they are a little less intelligent.

I pretty much agree with this. Charlotte doesn't have the rivalry with State that ECU has, but as an engineer working with several NCSU grads, they have a great deal of respect for our school, and we frequently discuss our hate for all things UNC. Most I know have followed our new football program with interest, and recall that our men's basketball has split the last two contests with them.

They've been shat on just like the rest of us in NC but I'm thankful that their fans have made it a life mission to bring down "The Carolina Way" ever since the Valvano stuff.

A little background: Chapel Hill did what they could to keep Charlotte College out of the UNC system in the mid-60s. Once we were admitted, Chapel Hill refused to help us through the transition into the system. On the other hand, State did what they could to help our faculty and administration get up to speed. I get the impression that relations between Charlotte and State have remained good over the years. Our former Chancellor (Jim Woodward) served at State in an interim capacy a few years back.

Chapel Hill has been so arrogant for so long. The more that happens to them, the better.

Thanks for the education there Alumnus. I wasn't aware of Chapel Hill's arrogance back when Charlotte was just getting started. Should have know though since those pricks have always been pricks.

UNC has done the same thing to ECU over the last 80 years. State has tried to stifle ECU to a waaaaay lesser degree (e.g. engineering school). I hate UNC with every ounce of my being. Every. Single. Ounce. I know a lot of NC State fans that are douches in the same way UNCers are about ECU, but there are a lot less of them.

And for the record, in response to a post on the last page...not all NCSU girls are fat...I'm marrying one. She weights 105. So THERE! ha

I chased a girl who was an NCSU T-shirt fan for a while. She wasn't fat at all. She did kinda look like her dad might have had a still or a meth lab or something in her back yard.

USM fans in my experience don't like MSU any more than they like Ole Miss... even though it's easy to draw a parallel between UNC / UM and NCSU / MSU.

One thing that does bug me about Ole Miss is the way Archie Manning talked about USM. We beat his team one year (late 1970s?) and he called USM a "third-rate university" and said that Ole Miss shouldn't even have to play us. This was back when thinly-veiled racism like that still passed as OK down here.
