Gayle Benson, the wife of Tom Benson the owner of the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans, has been appointed and accepted to the Tulane Board of Administrators overseeing the University. The Benson's recently gave approximately ten million dollars to Tulane for the Yulman football stadium now under construction. The playing surface will be called Benson Field.

Soon to be room for all 12 fans.

The Benson's are terrific people.

With better facilities and a better schedule, plus one of the best coaches I've ever met, Tulane should attract better recruits. I think the future is bright there.

Isn't exactly a "pimp my school post".

What this does tell us is that the new administration is going to be influenced by athletics.

The Bensons are terrific people?

He whined and threatened his way into massive city and state subsidies and tax benefits, always hinting that if he did not get his way, he would move the club.

When Katrina hit, Tom Benson was all set to immediately run away and take the Saints to San Antonio.

He did not even want to play games in Louisiana during the 2005 season. He wanted to play in the Alamodome.

The NFL commissioner demanded that Benson play at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge and told him that there is no way the Saints are leaving New Orleans.

My law firm was fairly well involved in those negotiations.

He was a pain in the ass during those talks. If the commissioner was not involved to strong arm him, he would have been even worse to deal with during New Orleans largest disaster.

He may, like many people, have some good points but he is not a "terrific person".
