Right now, I suspect UTSA is near the top of most conferences watch lists with their 40,000 students and no doubt hundreds of thousands of 'alums'... a relatively large city and virtually no pro or college competition.

Certainly they are a commuter school, but that doesn't stop those people (necessarily) from buying tickets or watching TV.

What Rice needs to do is leverage our alumni base into 'like-minded' people whose teams (if they have them at all) are more like Rice but don't play FBS football. Not people who just want great sports... because those people will watch Texas, but people who want to see REAL student-athletes compete... especially when they are playing the ESU's. We need to bring back the Vine Covered U fans of Tank McNamara

I don't think UT has any reason to feel threatened or intimidated by anyone. BYU would eat from it's hands.
No they wouldn't.
If BYU ever came in it would be on their terms. I'm not saying it won't happen. I am saying that *today* I think there's a better chance that Rice is offered and accepts a B12 invite than BYU does.

AAC is losing Louisville and Rutgers and gaining ECU, Navy, Tulane, and Tulsa.

C-USA is losing ECU, Tulane, and Tulsa and gaining Western Kentucky and Old Dominion. (Charlotte joins in 2015.)

These changes are bad for both conferences.

and you gotta know that Connecticut is actively shopping itself......

as is Cincy

as is literally every other G5 program
