It depends on the program.

UConn women sell 10k seats a game and have a coaches show on SNY, have high ratings of 8.0+ per game on SNY, so I'm sure they contribute to UConn's licensing fees and revenues.

No one has any idea how profitable UConn women are, but they are profitable and have higher ratings than many other school's men's bball or football for that matter.

All we can say for sure is not enough to for a P5 invite.

UCONN women make more money than half of the D1A football programs out there. Here are some insights (although this 2011 data):

Pretty impressive. Women's basketball must be more popular in the northeast. I can't see UCF ever getting 10k to a women's basketball game. On the other side UCF can have a sold out arena for a post season pep rally for the football team and have 10k show up a Disney world for a parade.

I'd be curious about the value of NCAA women's credits. They probably don't even share those with the conference b/c of the low value.

I would say the NE and Middle and East Tennessee.

It built its popularity through success here at UConn. It's not like it was already popular before Geno got here and started winning championships. Anything that UConn does well will be wildly popular in Connecticut. The reason that football hasn't caught fire yet is because it just hasn't been quite successful enough and when we did win games, we weren't quite entertaining enough.
