4 years of tuition + housing and meal plan for in state residents at Ohio University is $88,064. For out of state students its $123,880. I had no idea that the student athletes were now responsible for the full amount, just like every other student. By all means, $22K-$31K a year in compensation is totally unacceptable for an 18 year old who wants to play basketball while earning a bachelors degree.

As someone who spent 5 years earning my degree with zero financial aid my sympathy for the financial situation of student athletes is not high.

It feels like things are spiraling out of control.

Geno Ford's 5 years, $1.5 M contract was really good (one of the top in the MAC) when he signed it in 2010. Now he'd be one of the lowest paid coaches in the league.

It used to be a mid-major coach had to win an NCAA tournament game to get strong consideration and an opportunity to move up to a major conference. Then it was make the NCAA tournament. Now, it's have a good season or a decent run in the CBI.

You know, I said that Charlie Coles would have been quite rich if he was born 20 years earlier. I wonder how much money Dambrot cost himself by his unfortunate language years ago.

Looks like Ohio will be adding Toledo Asst. Jason Kemp to the coaching staff. Before joining Coach K's staff last year Kemp had spent 7 seasons as an asst under Saul Williams at NDSU. 1 season is a short time but curious if any Toledo fans had any thoughts or impressions of him.

I have no impressions. No idea if he was good, bad, whatever.

Met Jason Kemp at a coaches show this past season. A very friendly, outgoing guy. Do not know much about his coaching style.

Bowl bid? Yes.
QB coach? Ehh, some people weren't happy with the QC development.
Asst bball coach? He was only here for a year, so I honestly have no idea how good/bad he was.

Kemp is a good guy, pretty quiet. He like Saul is Wisconsin born and bred, run the Bo Ryan's system
