Sooo, does the AAC loss look different now?
Yes it does. We were a good team that ran up against a team with major mojo. A team who is going to the National Championship game. They beat us. It happens. We should / could have beaten them in Storrs, CT.

I was waiting too, however, the excuse for getting beat by a team 3 times in a season wasn't made exactly how I figured it would be.

RE: Sooo, does the AAC loss look different now?
It sucked that we lost badly on our home court, but there is no shame in losing to UConn 3 times this season. They are a VERY good team and were a bad matchup for us. Good teams like Memphis, Kentucky, Louisville, etc. get swept by other good teams all the time. Of the Final Four teams this year, Wisconsin is the only one not to have been swept by another team this season.
The Tigers only had one bad loss all season (Houston).

RE: Sooo, does the AAC loss look different now?
I guess we're going to play the groundhog game again.
It wasn't the loss, it was the way we lost. We continually did not play d and when we got punched in the mouth late in the season we rolled over.
We digressed - uconn did just the opposite and came toghether at the right time. They also stuck to their gameplan and played D when Florida looked like they were going to run away with it early on.
That is the difference. Not who we lost to (uconn is a great team) but how we lost (falling apart, no D, no heart, no hustle all in front of a home crowd).
I'm looking forward to the alarm clock going off tomorrow. Maybe I'll drive Punxsutawney Phil over a clif in a pickup truck this time.

I guess Louisville who beat them by 30 this year should be calling the Miami Heat now to schedule a game.

We got blown out on our home court to these guys. How does this make that loss any less embarrassing?

florida's a damn good team; why the double standard? florida lost by 10 points. that's the kind of "blow out" score that would incite the comment, we didn't get up for the BIG game. course, they may not have, but you can't play a bigger game which says to me that it can happen to anyone.
but, ya'll knew that. right?

SMU swept UConn this season.
Not saying that we could have won the tourney game against them, but our play was horrible and flat out an embarrassment. During the 700 mile drive to Memphis, I kept telling my wife how she was in for a real treat--seeing the Tigers play on their home court in a conference tournament.

It's like some of you didn't even watch the uconn game at the forum.
I did. I was there.
There is no comparison to what just happened to Florida and the way we played in the inaugural AAC conference tournament on our own floor in the first round.
None.
Trying to explain away that awful performance with uconn's run is oversimplifying at best and ignores the root cause of that embarrassment.
It's fine to appreciate uconn's run and how they are playing but to try to use their winning to explain the way we played in the AAC tourney is just silly.
You can polish that turd all you want, it's still a turd.

I bet UConn is beating themselves up pretty good about those losses (to smu). and rightly they should, eh?

UConn's run cannot explain our total lack of effort.

Uconn learned from their losses and progressed.
We regressed.
It's not negative to say so, it's honest.
I find the premise of this thread as dishonest. Maybe not intentionally so (who isn't dishonest with themselves from time to time) but dishonest just the same.

UCONN had our marbles this season ... our buttholes got instantly tight when we saw napier, daniels, and boatright (sp?)

The team didn't seem to be the same after the OT loss at UConn. The fire was gone and was sad to hear the beat writer say on the radio after the loss to Virginia the mood was I'm glad it's over. Terrible attitude for a team to have.

No. We had 4 guards who no showed. A coach who stood by with his arms folded. & a dejected home crowd. So no.

UConn did not win the AAC tournament.
Class, repeat after me, "it's not THAT we lost; it's the WAY we lost."

RE: Sooo, does the AAC loss look different now?
UConn got better at the end of the year. Kentucky got better at the end of the year. We were basically the same team that we were when we played Florida except for a good stretch in the Louisville and Gonzaga games. And to be honest Louisville folded in the stretch in several games this season. Did anyone hear Kevin Ollie when Tracy interviewed him at halftime? It was very telling.
