Wahoo, given UVa's football history I wouldn't laugh too much about Tech empty trophy case.

Now, I admit that UVa has only choked once in a big bowl, and that VT has choked many more times, but you have to make it to the big before you even get a chance to lay a big egg.

yeah, maybe UVa should try beating the Hokies more than once a decade before poking fun. they're actually one out of the last 15. that's pretty ugly.

on a related note: swinney, beat the chickens soon. very soon.

VT was one Peter Warrick away from having a BCS national title. Really find it funny that a UVA fan has the gall to make this thread.

Try not to confuse them like that. They will lash out like a crackhead at an occupy movement.

While that specific trophy case is meant for a football championship, I thought the empty trophy case has been a symbol of the all-encompassing joke that VT hasn't yet won a national championship in any varsity sport.

Doesn't UVa have like 20 something national championships?

Cheers,
Neil

In sports nobody cares about. Does it really matter if you have 20 National titles in junior varsity table tennis when for the majority of your history you have ben worthless in the money sports?

And Clemson has exactly 1 more national championship than UVA in a so called money sport won by a coach who cheated his way to that title with recruiting violations.

And that has what to do with the conversation?

Other than football and men's hoops national championships in other sports don't mean crap to the bottom line. Boston College winning a title in men's doubles tiddlywinks doesn't help the ACC, winning football and men's hoops titles do. Thus everything else simply doesn't matter on a conference scale.

Hell, Clemson has won three concrete canoe championships since the first one was awarded in 1988 and I feel sure they have more relevance to the mission of the ACC than a title in women's cross country, tennis, or boxing.

I tried to warn you. Confusing them with facts evokes a reaction akin to disturbing a raccoon that has raided your garbage can in the middle of the night. They hiss and gnash their teeth.

And, the hokies have won a natty. It's not recognized by the NCAA either, but they have one.

Because you seem to love to belittle every other program that doesn't fit your definition of a power. UVA's sports as a whole have accomplished much. Your last paragraph just cements in my mind what a fool you are.

RE: The Empty Trophy Case is gone
To argue that any sport is more important than another is to be biased. In the big picture, even football is meaningless and a child's game. It is only more important because it brings in more revenue.

However, if one asserts that football is NOT more important than women's cross country, then it's a small step to the conclusion that concrete canoe racing and, yes, bass fishing, are equally important. Indeed, at least bass fishing produces something useful - fish.

Pretty sure the existence of Mike London presently precludes you from talking smack about football. Especially when you are directing that smack at somebody who has owned you this millenium.

GTS, we were kind enough to send you Al, and I wouldn't be disappointed if we extended our benevolence and send you Mike. You can thank me later.

And speaking of this millennium, does the following mean anything to you?

2001 W 39 38 H
2002 L 15 23 A
2003 W 29 17 H
2004 W 30 10 A
2005 W 27 17 H
2006 L 7 24 A
2007 W 28 23 H
2008 W 24 17 A
2009 L 9 34 H
2010 L 21 33 A
2011 W 24 21 H
2012 L 20 56 A
2013 L 25 35 H

I'd be happy to take Mike as a position coach and recruiting coordinator.

And yes, those records tell me Cavman is good enough to go 5-2 against Chanball but 2-4 against a spread option despite having a deep and broad talent advantage and also 1-2 against O'Leary. UVA has a majors advantage. They have an admissions advantage. They aren't competing against the SEC as heavily as GT is. So congrats ... in addition to proving you suck against VT, you've proven you also suck against an option offense run with inferior players.

Stick to lacrosse and women's field hockey and other Title IX garbage when you want to argue sports Cavman. Nobody will care, but at least you'll have a track record of actually winning something. When you talk big boy sports... you're irrelevant.

All I can tell you is that you deserve mad props for your one NCAA recognized natty in the big boy sport of Women's tennis. Did your big boy hoops team make the CBI this year? I didn't follow it closely.

Since UVA football is horrible and has no immediate future prospects of being less horrible, I will marginalize others as my only recourse to try to feel better.

FTFY.
