Why Are WE Doing This?
Scheduling San Jose St that is. It makes no sense to me. Next year we play at Florida Atlantic - halfway across the country where a lot of our fans can't travel to. We have another contract with a MAC team, Toledo, about the same distance and now San Jose St. Why are we doing this? Most of our fans can't go to those venues unless they fly and their fans won't come here. Will we recruit those areas? Not very heavily unless things change. I just don't see the advantages unless its because they are "easy" contracts to get. And that wouldn't necessarily be to our advantage. We need more Texas trips closer to the fanbase IMO and let those (MAC and MWC) teams schedule to their own advantage. Maybe we should save some money and drive to North Texas or La Tech instead. Teams we already have some kind of rivalry with and in areas we want to recruit.

This makes no sense.

RE: Why Are WE Doing This?
If reports are correct and we are paying a MBB coach $1.3 million for a 6 year contract, that pretty much begs the word "WHY?". Does this assure us going to the NCAA in the new league? And why so much? Danny evidently didn't make that. Nor any MBB in TU history as far as I know.

But here is my concern. We are funneling money in the direction of a new coach in the #2 sport at TU and if the numbers are correct, we just made an (almost) $8,000,000 gamble. That is enough money to cover a lot of facility needs at TU in the #1 money making sport on campus - CFB. We need an IPF badly and other infrastructure for FB, but if we take that away and channel it towards MBB on something that may not last, then the result could be disaster. TBH, I'm not surprised at this. I still have reservations about our AD and how he looks at the program and the school. I get the idea he thinks TU is a money mill that he can play around with to suit himself. And that he'll use us and our money to further his career and be gone in a short while - then the future be daxxed.

I could be wrong. But again, I could be right. I want an AD who has a long term vision for the program. I'm not sure this was done in that vein.
