So you are saying he didn't? Maybe he wasn't effective in it...but dang if some of these kids weren't good defenders when they got here but became lazy defenders last season. How you manage that I have no clue....do you bench some of your best guys or just play them and try and get through to them?

The defensive schemes were terrible. Plain and simple. They overplayed on every possession. At every position. In every game. You play defense too tightly, you get beat nightly.

Hyperbole

If the shoe fits....

It doesn't fit.....

You can make a point without exaggeration. For example ask Gonzaga

There was also too much gambling for steals and swiping from behind...giving up the baseline drive....crazy stuff. It's really pretty simple concepts of playing sound D...you just gotta do it.

I agree.

I just don't know how he could fix that. My guy Crawford was the worlds worst. But what do you do? Abandon all of your starting guys in favor of guys who, if we're being honest, are mostly here to be used in practices? Do you bench Joe, CC, and Geron and play a rotation of Wilson and who else???

Personal opinion, but you play defense with spacing. You also have to switch the defense around before panic time. Go to a zone when things are going well. Switch back. Go with a big lineup for a few trips down the court. Do something. When you guard too tightly, it takes away your own quickness advantage and completely eliminates the ability to take away the passing lanes. I'll never understand Pastner's philosophy.

Are you serious? They played terrible interior defense against Gonzaga. They made the big guy look like Wilt Chamberlain by fronting him the entire night. Perimeter d was good because our guards were just better but the notion to front the big guy down low was ridiculous and they kept doing it over and over. Joe Jackson's block saved that game along with a heroic effort offensively by Dixon.

If you liked their defensive effort this year, more power to ya.

I never said that the defensive effort was very good this year but exaggeration gets you nowhere

Every game our defense was suspect at best. And we overplayed on every possession. At every position.

Pastner, his flashcards and basketball IQ
For everyone who thinks this is new, or not done by other successful coaches, it actually goes back to Jud Heatcote as in Magic Johnson's coach, as in national champion. /ignorance

That is hyperbole. Tigers D was good in the second half against OSU (part II). It was also very good down the stretch against Gonzaga and Louisville twice. Those 3 games we held the opponents to the lowest point totals they experienced all year.

The problem with the D was that it was not played consistently enough. I'm torn whether to put the blame on schemes or players efforts. I expect it was some of both. But it does have to get better next year - and I truly expect it will.

LMAO.

Can't get back in huh? Visa tie up? LMAO while you freeze yours. Lol

Still on this idiotic kick? I haven't had the need to come back since the UConn game.

I'm glad you came back lammers, so I could remind you I said Ollie was better than josh and you laughed at me. You may learn something if you are willing.

You've been calling me Lammers; what does that mean? Oh, and btw, prove that you included Marshall on the list. You didn't. Also, Marshall wouldn't come here so like everything you say, not very bright at all, and irrelevant. While you're at it; show the post where you said Ollie was better.
Are you going to be a liar now? You know full well I listed Greg Marshall and Tony Bennett. Marshall wouldn't come here. We play "here" in Memphis not Canada. You wouldn't know who would come or who wouldn't. You just run your mouth and act like you know stuff, you don't. Go look the stuff up yourself and stop being a baby. Maybe you can find a 4 year old to help you.
