Well, La Tech only averages about 1,000 paying fans per home game therefore I was only trying to explain for those who wonder how they do that. Simply speaking, deep pocket taxpayers. I don't see how you could object to a post explaining that for everyone.

it was most likely the bank of James Davison
EE for someone who hates Tech, you seem to really only show up when you can find a way to bash them

He's an idiot. I'm a season ticket holder and if there are only 1000 paying fans we're letting 1500 in free on our worst night..and 4000-5000 in free on our best night. It's all moot anyways he should know we can't give coaches raises using state funds as he is implying.

Quote: I made no comment about attendance whether reported, announced, season tickets, estimated, padded, or whatever. THE LOUISIANA STATE LEGISLATIVE AUDITOR checked the books and for last reported fiscal year La Tech ticket sales revenue for their 14 official home games was $149,312. At an average $10. each that amounts to 1064 PAID fans per game. How does that qualify me as an idiot? Do you fans think the auditor is lying? Why would he do that? Same thing applies to your football ticket sales, wont dig into that but in past the average PAID attendance has been far less than 10,000.
So far as giving raises from state funds you are correct. However, diverting funds from donors to the foundation which then pays part of the coaches salaries is leaving a big hole in the budget which has to be filled in with taxpayer dollars. If the donations went to the program itself then the losses would be less.
$10 per ticket? The only $10 ticket in the place is a child's ticket in the upper bowl. Floor seats are like $50. Those are mostly full. The lower bowl are $20-28 and mostly full. Then the upper bowl is $12. All I'm saying is...someone is lying or doesn't know what they're talking about.

I checked the La Tech ticket price website out of curiosity for last season and they list no seat prices higher than $28. which are just a few small "sections" at floor level on one side of the court that hold a total of maybe 200 but wont argue if you say 5,000. Then, the rest of the lower sections, probably 2000 seats in all, are $20. adult and $15. children EXCEPT a huge block of those 100 level seats are reserved for the students. The others sections are all in the 200 level and listed as $12. adult and $8. children.
So, if you want to say the ticket price average is $20. then Tech only has an average of about 500 paying fans per game. The only figure NOT flexible is the total ticket sales of $149,312 for the entire season, dice it any way one likes. That's the figure supplied BY the La Tech administration TO the auditors which THEY validated.
I suspect if Tech turned on the lights so the upper sections could be seen they would appear mostly empty.
