Will they ever stop trying?
Quote:Based on the Kaiser Family Foundation and HealthCare.gov results, a Michigan family of seven with the same profile could get a silver plan with the same coinsurance as the Wendt’s current plan, a monthly premium that would be roughly the same (somewhat less for the HMO and somewhat more for the PPO) and far less than the $10,000 annual deductible. Plus, such a family would be eligible for subsidies to reduce out-of-pocket expenses to around $3,000 — which could represent a significant savings since Shannon Wendt told MLive.com, a Michigan news website, that her family paid $10,000 in out-of-pocket expenses last year.
Of course, the silver plan also provides more benefits because it provides “essential benefits” and meets other requirements that Wendt’s old and current plan do not meet.
Misleading Anti-Obamacare Ad in Michigan
I do agree that the total premium number seems inflated.
I'd say the biggest problem is that she didn't want her kids on the Medicaid dole. The story even said so. She wants to get the full tax credit and stay off Medicaid, which doesn't seem possible. Therefore, she's forced to buy a $800/month family plan.
I admit I don't have all the facts about this particular case, but if it is true that putting her kids on Medicaid is the qualifier for her getting a equivalent plan, that's just laughable and flat out sad. Any liberal of Obamacare supporter that thinks putting kids on Medicaid is a good thing if there is a suitable alternative is beyond stupid.
C'mon 200. There's a qualifying level for Medicaid. It's not that all are put on there. She falls under the level, so they qualify.
No one is saying this is a perfect law. You're going to have cases like this where some are going to be hurt or inconvenienced...but they go along with those who are helped and had opportunities opened up for them. You're going to have trade-offs in everything. I only want honesty and all the facts.
If before Obamacare she could afford to take the personal responsibility of insuring her own children without putting them on the government dole but after Obamacare was passed the only way to afford insuring her family was to put her kids on Medicaid (even if it is under the expansion), how is that making health insurance more affordable?

But for her, it would be more affordable.
And you can't judge the whole bill on how it effects one person. You don't/can't make laws that way!
I'm not claiming that this is a perfect scenario for her or that she hasn't been negatively impacted. I'm just saying, rightfully so, that the original ad...like nearly everything the Koch's put out, is not factually accurate. Sorry.

Only by asking the rest of the taxpayers to help support her children by subsidizing their health insurance and putting the kids on Medicaid. By the way, are you familiar with Medicaid? Do you think it's an equitable substitute for private health insurance?
She doesn't want government help, and before this cluster**** of a law was passed she didn't need it. This is a perfect example of the government expanding their control and power by increasing government dependence.

The problem is the bill is having negative effects on numerous people, not just one or two. It would be different if cases like this were rare and if politicians like Reid weren't claiming that every single case where an individual or family were negatively affected were flat out lies.
You believe that the Koch's are factually inaccurate with what they promote yet believe that Reid and Pelosi are factually accurate with what they say and claim? You know better. Do you not believe it is factually inaccurate and intellectually dishonest to claim that this case is not true yet fail to mention that the only way her costs are cheaper under Obamacare is to put her kids on Medicaid?

Yes...it's negatively effecting more than one or two. But it's also helping countless others. You can't gloss over that fact.
And if you knew anything about me, you'd know I'm no fan of Reid or Pelosi. So don't go there.
And I don't have to believe the Koch's are factually inaccurate (mostly by omission), it's been proven time and time again. Google has loads of data debunking them.

Truth be damned? Or do you just want a story?
But this actually points to the Dems biggest problem. They aren't talking enough about the people positively effected by the ACA.

That depends on whether it actually pays for any health CARE for her and her family. Health INSURANCE is not health CARE.

RE: Mother Of Five: Obamacare Jeopardizing My Family’s Financial Future
The promise was thrown around "You can keep your plan and doctor if you want to" ad nauseam. Also, you'll save a bunch of money.
Now, this mother is losing her plan and she's going to have to get on medicaid to save any money. Sounds like an awful proposal, no matter how you slice it.
The left feels the need to beat up on families and cancer patients who are trying to keep the insurance policies they like.

I know you are no fan of Reid or Pelosi, but how are they any less guilty than the Kochs when it comes to what they say?
Google also says aliens from mars killed JFK. Just sayin.

No **** Sherlock...but no one is comparing those two here! We're talking about her health insurance costs pre and post ACA. Try to keep up.

I follow your line of thinking, but since she would no longer be paying for her children if they are on Medicaid it isn't a true comparison. She has children, so the cost of her insurance under Obamacare should include covering her children in order to get a fair comparison. Shifting the cost of their care to the state and only covering the mother under Obamacare isn't an apples to apples scenario in my opinion and could be considered as equally misleading as anything the Koch brothers, Ried, or Pelosi have said.

So if her health INSURANCE is cheaper but she can't get decent health CARE, she's better off?
I'm having a hard time figuring out how you can dissociate the two with a straight face.

Probably because you're trying to critique an argument that I never made.

OK, well then the argument you make is totally irrelevant.
