So instead of directing your wrath at the conference, maybe you should redirect that wrath towards USM officials. Your rant about how bad you think this conference has become is rather bothersome and annoying......like yourself.
That is exactly where my wrath is directed. I'm sorry if that was unclear.
I've been far more critical of our AD, and his two predecessors, than I have been of any other C-USA school.
My criticism of the conference itself has been limited to saying that it's just a poor fit for Southern Miss, and that being here is nothing for us to take pride in. UNT, La Tech... by all means y'all should take pride in the fact that you moved up where ULM, Troy, etc. did not. Our situation is 180 degrees opposite.
I've also been just about the only Southern Miss fan here to call B.S. on our AD's recent comments. It's not C-USA's job to get us into a postseason tournament. That's just bunk. If we want to be in a multi-bid league, we should get into one. C-USA used to be a 4 or even 5-bid league. It's not any more. We'll slip in two in a very, very good year... maybe.
If Bill McGillis doesn't like it, he knows where the door is... just follow Louisville, USF, ECU, TCU, UCF, Tulsa, Houston, Memphis, Tulane, St. Louis, Marquette, Cincy... you catch my drift.
We were in a pretty good WAC conference for a while...

That seems to be a common misunderstanding with legacy C-USA folks. While I love and prefer the geography of C-USA, we certainly did not move "UP" by joining it.
Most folks have a positive, favorable, impression of the MWC. Guess what? The power teams of the Mountain West were the core of the old WAC...US!

Ditto! The old WAC that included LA Tech, UTEP, SMU, Rice and Tulsa in the east was a great fit for us. Fact is, we are in a very similar "conference" situation to USM's....just with a different set of circumstances. OH....and we had a football team before 1980 too.
