Well, Bucs beat those nice young men from Knoxville---------again. If I remember correctly ETSU has won 7 of the last 10 games with the voles.

I know that a conference win is more important. But when we have a great crowd like this it is very important to play well.

RE: Nice win over UTK
It's a great win for ETSU, they just need to build on the momentum for the stretch run. Only two games out in the loss column and they're acting like they want to be about something and honestly can control their own destiny with the top two teams in the A-Sun left on the schedule.
It's definitely put up or shutup time.

UT coach said Freeman should be wearing orange, implying he's too good to be playing for East Tennessee -- once a UT ahole, always a UT ahole. But, UT man, look at the series record for the past several years.

Sounds like as much (or more) of a jab at the prior coaching staff at UT then it does ETSU.

Quote:“He’s a good player,” Tennessee coach Dave Serrano said. “I’m just confused why he’s not – I want to say this in the right way – I respect the fact that he’s here at East Tennessee; if I was here at Tennessee, he would’ve been wearing the orange, I hope, because he’s a pretty darn good player. Not just offensively, but you could tell in his mentality on the mound, too.”

Yea, he said that if he had of been at UT, this player would now be at UT. In other words, it's a foregone conclusion that Freeman or anyone else on the planet would have automatically chosen UT over ETSU. Sugar coated arrogance -- and that old UT ahole attitude.

I agree with this. I took it as a slap at our school also. I am just glad we got the win and can now look to a stretch run in the conference and see what we can do. Just beating a big school does not help us in conference so here is hoping to put in together and make some noise in our last year in the A-Sun.

RE: Nice win over UTK
Well let's see, better facility, more fan support, more financial support, bigger programs, better competition, better shot at getting to the NCAA Regionals/College World Series because they're in a better conference. Dave Serrano came from small programs, calling him an A-hole when you don't know the guy or the history of how hard he works and has worked to turn that dumpster fire of a program around wreaks of good ol' fashioned little D!ck butthurt syndrome. He's not taking a shot at ETSU, he's taking a shot at what a dumbarse the previous coach was and how poor he was at evaluating talent as well as getting the talent to a place that has better facilities, more fans and more money.
And bottom line if you want to further this, look at what Dr. Noland even said in his first speech, he admitted ETSU is a university of convenience, not a university of choice and his goal was to make ETSU a university of choice. UTK is a university of choice, like it or not.
I also like how you took the partial quote, so here's the full one from the Johnson City Press.

"“He’s a good player,” Tennessee coach Dave Serrano said.

Funny how he "Respects that fact that he's at East Tennessee," but saying if he were there that he (Freeman) would've been wearing orange I HOPE."
There was nothing arrogant about that, he gave proper comment to the program Freeman is at while stating he doesn't understand why he's not at the most well known public university in the state.
Damn folks, stop with the orange butthurt. ETSU needs the ETSU-T fans, period.

Hmm nope read what came right after the part I bolded "I Hope" so no I still read it as the previous coach should have came after the kid hard. But yeah if UT wants a kid and ETSU wants the same kid, 99% of the time no matter what the sports UT is going to GET the kid, that is just fact, you don't have to like it and you can try and say different but that won't change it.

I am still very proud of our Bucs for the big win Tuesday! Senior Clinton Freeman and all the rest of the team made us very proud to be a Buccaneer!

I watched every second of the stream. I enjoyed every second. Beating Tennessee makes the season no matter what else happens. Sweeping the season series...priceless.

RE: Nice win over UTK
You realize what you're saying here? Beating Tennessee matters more than winning the conference and going to the NCAA's? 1811 people saw ETSU beat UTK live at Thomas Stadium, the following night loss to Radford? An announced 704. The bump didn't help attendance, it's not going to help ETSU beat out UT for a recruit (money usually wins that battle in baseball).
Winning matters. I could care less about the big name wins, if they happen then great, what matters is winning your conference, getting to and winning games in the NCAA's.
Let me put it another way, if Bartow scheduled Tennessee next year (which he should, they're going to be AWFUL), they beat Tennessee yet finish 5th in the SoCon, lose twice to Chattanooga and finish around .500, would that make the season? Right now, ETSU is fourth in the A-Sun and one game above .500. It's called mediocrity, and one win over a big name team, who oh by the way has been a dumpster fire the better part of the last ten years isn't what I'd call a season making win.
I swear I don't understand our fans sometimes.

Well most of us would like to do both. Beat UT and make the playoffs. In the case of basketball , you don't necessarily " spend" a player for the next game or 2 by playing him against UT like you do a starting pitcher in BB so I am not sure the comparison is exactly apples to apples. I also think there is a difference in beating UT at anything versus beating say Georgia , even though they are in the same conference.
I am sure you get why fans are more excited about UT than almost any other non-conf school. Nevertheless I get your point about winning the battle and losing the war. I suspect, however, that winning the baseball "war" is not that high on most Buc fans list to be honest, and for sure it is not high at all on average Tri- Cities resident's list. Now if ETSU could make a deep run in the CWS sometime that might change. I appreciate your post as it made me think about it more than I would have otherwise.

RE: Nice win over UTK
I just get aggravated by the whole thing. It wreaks of butthurt. Who gives a damn what they do? They spend more on women's basketball than ETSU does on its' entire athletic budget. At the end of the day, pennants, banners, championship rings and trips/wins to the NCAA's matter more in every sport ETSU plays in. It's fun to talk about the win, but the bigger picture is more important. The Bucs have a huge last few weekends coming up, they can win the A-Sun if they'll get something that atleast resembles consistency.
