Whoa! Cuonzo Martin to Marquette?
Matthew Hatfield @hatfieldsports
Sources close to the situation tell me Cuonzo Martin of Tennessee is going to be the next Head Basketball Coach at #Marquette.

Wes Rucker @wesrucker247
I'm not saying reports on Cuonzo Martin taking the Marquette job are false. I'm just saying no one I trust will confirm anything right now.

Great! Now Jarnell can graduate early and come home to make the three headed monster in the post.

it would be a shock to me, Marquette's future is on shaky ground without a football program. unless the program has deep pocket boosters who are willing to finance the program at a net loss, there's only so much room to optimize your compensation and hire an elite staff. surely Martin is using Marquette to leverage a better contract situation.

Better Basketball school and less hillbillies to deal with.

Stokes can stay gone. The way he jerked our program around rubbed me the wrong way, and I don't think his presence would be good for the long term health of our program.

Jarnell is D League bound IMO.

Anytime a major college job becomes open (particularly a rival) it's potentially tiger related for more reasons than one. 1) Recruiting 2) Our own coach may be attractive to that school trying to find a replacement.

Would be foolish not to take the Marquette job. He will never do anything at Tennessee.

Cuonzo would be out of a job next year. Might as well get a new one now.

I respectfully disagree. He could be the difference between just making the tournament and seriously competing to winning it. Although I don't think it would happen. Just wishful thinking.

That's nuts. We blindly support our coach when we are winning or showing promise. When we seem to underperform year after year, a small minority get vocal...as would any other school who gives a crap about basketball.

Back on the original topic, this would be a brilliant move by Cuonzo. Their fans wanted to fire him two weeks ago. He's hopping the first train out of there.

Stokes isn't projected as a 1st rounder this year, nor would he likely be next year. However, he'd have a better shot at a title here if he joins vs. at UT if Martin leaves. Nothing will change his draft status at this point. Again, just messageboard fodder.

Things usually happen in 3's. No Pearl. No Cuonzo. No Stokes.

there will be more couch burning than when Kiffen left in knoxpatch if all three happened
