DeKalb AG , Why Not ?
In all reality, I have always wondered why DeKalb Ag or whatever its called now has no visible ties to NIU. You would think the Convo Center roof would be the ideal place for the Winged Ear logo. How about instead of hedges the South end zone berm had rows of DeKalb Ag corn. Anyone have any reasons why no sponsorship ?

Because they are owned by Monsanto who controls the market anyways, so why waste money on advertising.

Do they still have an office in town? I would think Nestle with that big distribution center is another option.

I think IMG College, controls all the sponsorship involved with Sports..

But i think this is one of those things, where there is not enough value for sponsorship of any large value.. It would be interesting to see what current sponsors are paying..

For example what is the name of the company that donates something like $25 to the Northern Illinois Food bank for each Huskie FG for the season... They seem to get a lot of exposure for the small amount they are donating to the Food Bank

Its like that at most of the FBS stadiums with these padded seats.

Since the grey ones are so boring I have been pushing Athletics to Huskie them up a bit and them to be reupholstered in red along with a NIU logo on the back so its like most other FBS programs that offer these.

Like this...

Man! We come up with some awesome ideas here. Both of these get a huge thumbs up from me. I know this stuff is easier said than done, but everything is a numbers game. We come up with enough really good ideas here that, just playing the numbers game, if NIU athletics took them and ran with them, some would pay off. As I always say, if you take the shot, you MAY score; If you don't take the shot you won't score.

Take the shot!

Hmm, except the "waste money" on advertising Big10 (/11/12 or whatever number) games.

RE: DeKalb AG , Why Not ?
The mere fact NIU has no AG school and the agriculture market in IL is totally controlled by UI sez alot to why no flying corn cobs atop Convo...You put your ad dollars in locations /outlets with a payoff...How often do you hear Oriene Sameulson of WGN radio and TV the past 53 years say much about DeKalb ...Does any company anywhere still manufacture barb wire?

RE: DeKalb AG , Why Not ?
I am sure this AD and past ADs have tried to get a major sponsor. It is not easy. NIU would not be a big marketing tool for most companies. Until Nick Saban and Coach K decide they want to build a top notch athletic program from scratch, we will never have United, or Sears or Boeing sponsor a stadium.

Elburn Co-op. Meredith Road, just north of Route 38. About two miles north of Kaneland High School.
