Yanni Hufnagel

Defensive minded coach and can recruit with the best of them.

Also, friends with Josh.

He has only been at Vanderbilt for one season, correct?

I must guess this is why Lyle went to Oregon, he must have known Gardner wouldn't be here.

Think you have that backwards, Gardner is moving on... And im convinced he was moving on one way or the other. He was brought in as a "recruiter". Yet did not deliver on anyone, most importantly J Lyle. When Lyle commited to Oregon, Gardner was a goner... Good for him he landed a headcoaching job.

Was Pastner "kinda" brought in by Cal to bring in Emmanuel Ngedu (?) and Abdul Gaddy?

Whats your point?

None, really. Seems the usual "now that so and so is out the door, let's pile on him..." stuff. Just because Gardner didn't "get" a guy he was presumably hired to get doesn't mean he couldn't be valuable. I dunno.

He and O'Neil didn't work well together at Arizona....which is probably why he left there in the first place.

Our LAST former Rice coach was a damn good assistant coach...

Really? Based on?

Willis Wilson had experience as a head coach .. Josh had him and Cyprien to lean on for experience in his first couple of seasons as Memphis head coach.

But the problem with that statement is it was widely reported and accepted that CJP relied much more on his guy (Jack Murphy) than Wilson, and that did not bode well for that relationship.
