Kelvin Sampson to the AAC?
Sounds as if Houston and Sampson are close. Sampson's 'old' school already hired a new coach. The remaining 'Houston and Sampson issue' is money.

He can win. We're going to have quite the lineup of coaches this next year:

Cronin
Ollie
Pastner
Brown
Sampson

That is a good list.

Me too. Competition breeds excellence. We need teams to do well to make the AAC tougher. Losing Louisville will have to counteracted by a return to prominence from Temple, Tulsa continuing to build, and one of the second division teams becoming relevant.

Sampson could do that at Houston.

That could give us a situation with a league that has something like this:

1, NCAA: SMU
2-4, rebuilding powers that can make the NCAAs: Memphis, UConn, Cincy
5-7: NCAA/NIT bubble: Tulsa, Houston, Temple
8: NIT but frisky: UCF

It won't be as good as this year (the top teams are losing a ton), but it will be a nice competitive bridge year until the AAC and their good recruiting /coaching bases rock out in 2015-2016.

"4. If John Lucas winds up at Houston, expect Myles Turner to follow: And that would create major shock waves throughout college basketball. Lucas has emerged as a legitimate candidate for the opening at Houston and multiple sources have told CBSSports.com that the top remaining high school player in America will follow him if he indeed becomes the next head coach of the Cougars. Lucas has worked out Turner on a near daily basis over the past few months and is in his ear more than anyone during the recruiting process. Houston has struggled to be relevant nationally since the mid 1980s, but that would immediately change if it hired Lucas and he brought the 7-foot Turner along for the ride. With Turner, TaShawn Thomas, DanuelHouse, Danrad "Chicken" Knowles, and point guard L.J. Rose, the Cougars will immediately be able to compete with every team they'd have to play in the American."
