How can they? Either coaches don't renew scholarships or players decide to leave on their own. Either way it is sucks to be a fan and watching the revolving door take away your best players. ECU was hit hard last year. I am hoping that things improve this off season.

None announced for Charlotte. I expect that to change when the semester is over.

Since the signing period is just around the corner and we fans love to moan about the # of stars a recruit has I did some research....

I charted the top 100 recruits from 2008 thru 2011 with their career averages among other things.

Once you take away the one or two (I left the 3 and done in) and done players from those classes and the few players that never made it to a college campus you have 321 players. Out of those 321 players 105 (32.7%) transferred at least once.

It's getting worse 34% of the 2011 top 100 (w/o nba early entry) class transferred

Broken down by size.. 43% (46 players)of the 105 transfers were guards (6'5 or below) and 56% 6'6 or up. Which actually falls in line with the % each group makes up of the 321 players.

Below are some more useless stats (hey that's what I do!) the average ppg for a career for the top 100 players from 2008-2011 (321 players)

70 out of the 321 averaged 5ppg or less ...21%

95 out of the 321 averaged 6ppg or less....29.5%

119 out of the 321 averaged 7ppg or less....37%

152 out of the 321 averaged 8ppg or less.....47%

189 out of the 321 averaged 9ppg or less.....58.8%

230 out of the 321 averaged 10ppg or less....71.6%

60 out of the top 321 top 100 players from 2008-2011 averaged 12 or more ppg for their career

The big boys tend to do worse over their careers than the guards. I broke this down into two groups 6'6 and up and 6'5 and lower.

Out of the 321 top 100 players from 2008-2011

183 are 6'6 or up they had a average of 7.3ppg for their careers

138 are under 6'6 they had a average of 9.3ppg

damn that is a lot of research time, nice.

Sounds like those guys were on their way out regardless of the coaching situation. Braun's recruits always had an absurd attrition rate, so it was really no surprise to me.

Denzel Ingram is transferring from Charlotte.

With Braxton Ogbueze entering the fold next season, there weren't really any minutes available at PG and Ingram did not want to play off ball.

This leaves a big gap in Charlotte's 3 point shooting since Ingram shot around 44% from 3 this season. We also lose Ben Cherry, who shot around 45% from 3 to graduation. None of our returning guys are great 3 point shooters and neither of the guys we are bringing in are notable for three point shooting.

Here is the link the Verbal Commits. Click on the Transfer tab and you will see all of the players that have indicated that they will transfer. Canty's name is on it. Hell Pooky Powell from the Memphis Tigers name is on it even though it doesn't look like his transfer became public until a day or two or ago. So if the list is wrong then you should shoot Goodman a line, because he compiles the list for ESPN that Verbal Commits is sourcing.
