RE: About that new DL....Yikes!
We need some reports from fans. I'm going to this Friday's practice.
Of interest to me:
-QBs of course
-Who is with the ones at left guard. I assume it will be Tyler Pitt.
-How all the guys who redshirted last fall are looking.
-Ben Compton
-D line in general
-The whole defensive backfield since Paris Logan seems to be the only veteran out there right now.

NIU also lacks a "homer" reporter...and most of the reporting I read about us is done by people who have no idea about football so they just quote coaches speak

Yeah, count me among those getting sick of undersized defensive lines NIU keeps trotting out year after year. At some point we need to get some 300+lb porkers in there.

We have a couple but for some reason they never play..I wonder if it is due to the spread offense , so the lighter DL can run in space and make tackles...just spit balling

Amazing that we do win some games vrs the big boy pants when we always seem so undersized on both sides of the ball.

DT & DE's are the hardest positions for G5's to recruit. NIU has tried recruiting JUCO's hard for these spots but was unsuccessful this past year in signing any which is a real brain teaser as there is playing time to be had on a winning program. There are some good ones in the 14/15 class ,just have to be patient and hope they can be landed:
