UMass or Old Dominion???
We already know how UMass fans think... They're not going to invest on their football stadium unless AAC offers them membership first... Backward thinking, IMO.

Old Dominion is a good size school (24k plus students)... Decent size market... Facility upgrades are on the works... Fan interest is good.

Here's the + or - question

IF, the AAC had to chose between these two programs... Who would be the better AAC fit, UMass or Old Dominion???

No one, we aren't expanding right now, no one we can add will add value to the TV deal.

I'd go with ODU. Closer to Greenville & brought a decent crowd last year.

RE: UMass or Old Dominion???
This thread has already been sidetracked..... The topic is either UMASS or Old Dominion.... We need a school in a market not dominated by a power conference. The ACC has the Virginia market on lockdown. If UMASS will spend $$$ to upgrade its stadium, I would go with a school in a market that we have a better chance at succeeding in. Therefore, UMASS would be my choice....

RE: UMass or Old Dominion???
Neither are anywhere near ready to be in the BEST of the Go5 conference.

UMass has no legitimate stadium plans, has invested little, and has been absolutely brutal in FBS, both in attendance and performance. ODU is just transitioning, it is just starting a new stadium plan, is unproven and not the type of program that adds TV value to the American. The conference is not expanding without TV or other realignment issues driving the reasoning.

How many these BEAT a DEAD HORSE threads do we need?

Both, make it an even 14, demand better TV deals more $$$$$. The American can move in on Virginia. The ACC could stand some competition, however I would go with Southern Miss over UMASS.

Look, adding another school like this is not going to help us keep up with the P5. Isn't that our goal? Do any P5 conferences want to add UMass or Old Dominion? No. Then why do we?

We can't compete with the ACC or SEC (to think otherwise is being unrealistic), which is why ODU and Southern Miss aren’t good options in my opinion…..

We don't have the same options as the P5, so get a grip on reality.....
