Ironic that Cal's team sealed a victory thanks to a missed free throw

More ironic that his own team won by making theirs.

Not at an early age, anyway. During my brief stint in AAU coaching, I once tried to help a player correct their free throw shooting. We were doing a drill when their parent intervened and said it was a waste of time, their kids' free throwing percentage was fine. I pointed out that it was around 55% and that was terrible. The parent got irate and said as they got stronger it would get better, despite terrible form.

RE: FREE THROWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Getting put on the line late in a game helps too.

Louisville game ending was a carbon copy of the Wichita State game ending.

In both games- ky trailed by around 5 late- and in both games they paraded to the free throw line on minimal contact. They made some big shots and made some big rebounds (after Harrell fouled out of course) but the steady stream of free throws kept them in- even more galling when you saw the other Louisville big miss that shot that rolled around the rim- that rolled around the rim because his arm was hit- hard.

Of course after the free throws and the one made basket gave ky the lead- there was a singular questionable call benefiting the Ville.

They took advantage- but the march to the line was painful to watch and seemed wrong.

I think free throw shooting is more if an individual skill that players need to practice on their own with a buddy shagging rebounds / makes.

I think it cost Wichita State toward the end as well. They missed a couple, and KY hit all of theirs.

Yes, there are more important skills. Many.
