Illinois: Ryan Cubit, son of offensive coordinator Bill Cubit, has been hired as director of student-athlete development. He most recently served as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Western Michigan in 2012.

Good for Ryan.

Probably a job he is well-suited for.

But if Illini don't show marked improvement on Defense and win more games this Fall, he and Dad (along with HC Beckman)may be looking for new employment next year.

Either way dad pulls in a million with his two year contract. Nice nest egg for retirement for bill. I have a feeling he will be running his offense somewhere for the next 10 years.

Bill might be, but with his proven results coupled with the obvious drop off at WMU, his stock can't be that bad. Peej did him a favor.

Good for Ryan, he's back in football.

Obvious drop? Yes, last year sucked, but we only won 4 games in 2012. I would not call that an obvious drop. Add to it, PJ had a whole lot less to work with.

Lets give him a chance before we call him a failure.
Note:Jerry Kill only won a single game his first year at SIU and then he only 4 games in his second year. Of course he rocked every year after that, but under your guide they should have canned him before he had a chance to prove his recruits and system. 05-nono

This is silly and we have been beaten this into the ground BUT Kill took over a team that had been bad for a decade. PJ didn't take over a team that didn't have a winning record for 10 years. It's apples and oranges. Bill is gone and PJ has had a great recruiting class. Now he needs to prove he can coach and lead a program. 2012 we lost 4 games by less than a td. 2013 we lost to an FCS team and were only competitive with the emus and chimps other than our one less than dominate win over UMASS. If it was not 4:30 in the morning I would not have wasted my time to type this.

WTF RTB Whatever JWB

'bout time to get that fixed, isn't it?

I had surgery for a herniated disc 12 years ago, nary a twinge since then. Hoping I was going to die until I went under the scalpel.

So does your sports knowledge, guy that hoped we would draw slumping Syracuse so we could shoot over their zone. 03-lmfao

Had two done in 2005 got worse took me out of coaching for 3 seasons. 2009 got off the pain pills. The reason it is bothering me right now is I started to exercise two weeks ago. Goal is to run again. Might not get there but even if I get close I will be better for it.
