He reminds me of Josh Pastner. Rice can recruit up a storm, but x's and o's are not his thing. His recruiting class for next season at UNLV is sick (two 5*'s and a 4*) and they all are from the East so from a recruiting stand point it makes sense for USF to hire him, but coaching them is another thing.

Good hire for USF if he brings his recruits with him.

Lebo can coach up a storm, but you are not going to win many games with low/mid major talent.

The AAC is beginning to treat the MWC the way the ACC treats the BE. Take their schools. Come for their coaches. What are they going to do about it? What?

It was more Dave Rice's assistants that recruited incredibly and the main one would likely stay and take the UNLV job so don't bank on the incredible recruiting.

if we take a MWC coach that would speak volumes

but if i was rice who has 3 elite 100 recruits signed at UNLV, to come to usf and have to build the program up from ground, this would be tough decsion, if i was him i would honestly consider staying at UNLV

If Neal was able to get those high star recruits from North East to go play at UNLV, I think he will do even better at USF.

Think about it... More $$$, better exposure, solid basketball AAC opponents and beautiful front beach property... In all honesty, Neal would be insane to pass-up the USF job, IMO.

UNLV is a basketball power, maybe not a duke but are a top program
unlv could easily match that contract depending on how much they value him
and no offense to usf who is relatively new to top level basketball, its easier to get bigger name recruits depending on the name brand of the team . UNLV in basketball is dramatically better brand than USF (unlv had the #1 draft pick 2 years ago)

and florida basketball recruiting isnt anywhere to the level of florida football. if unlv matches what usf is offering i wouldn't go anywhere

There are rumors every time a coach goes, I can't recall a time where there weren't rumors after a coach leaves. If they do go that will say something.
