Would that mean that the BJCC would host the men's & Bartow the women's?

Birmingham has a multitude of arenas that could be used for practices and games - BJCC, Bartow, Samford, Miles, CrossPlex, for instances...

I would assume BJCC for all men's and Bartow for first 3 rounds of women's and then it too moves to BJCC.

I'm glad to hear UAB is at least making a run at this thing. Birmingham is a pretty decent location for the conference.(Charlotte, MTSU, WKU, La Tech, and USM are all in reasonable driving distance)

Would be great for Birmingham and UAB, but I wouldn't mind Charlotte either...

Makes sense. It would make more sense to host the tournament in a year where UAB may come in as league favorites. Who's the third senior UAB loses after next season, Rideau? I like the Biloxi idea for next season

I'm not sure we're going to be better in two years than we are next. We have yet to see any of these freshmen. We have knowns in Chad and CJ that will be seniors next year. I would assume that Watts, Madison, and Mehinti will continue to develop, and Brown will be a starter from the start of the year. That is 6 players with experience, and 3 of them will be upper class men. If Rideau can develop enough to become a three point specialist, that would be a little more experience. If we can get 10-15 effective minutes out of a couple of the freshmen, we would be 8-9 deep easy. I'm not saying we won't be better in 2 years, but right now, it's hard to say we have replacements as good as or better than Chad and CJ.

Note from Little Smaug: "After spending a few days in El Paso, I realize Birmingham isn't all that sketchy."

Why do we have to have high expectations of the team to host the tournament?

The reason is $$$$$.
Usually you have to guarantee a certain
minimum to the conference. If the host team
sucks - the attendance is bad
PS the NCAA and SEC often use high schools
For practice

Back in the days, UAB would host the Sun Belt tournament which provided us a little extra boost to win the whole thing.
The more it works out here, the more likely they will want to bring it back here.
