RE: ACC tournament in Charlotte in 2019, Greensboro in 2020
Future ACC Tournament Sites:

2015 – Greensboro Coliseum; Greensboro, N.C.
2016 – Verizon Center; Washington, D.C.
2017 – Barclays Center; Brooklyn, N.Y.
2018 – Barclays Center; Brooklyn, N.Y.
2019 – Time Warner Cable Arena; Charlotte, N.C.
2020 – Greensboro Coliseum; Greensboro, N.C.

Maybe we are looking at things in two year rotations? Maybe it will be held in NYC for two years, then perhaps NC for two years, followed by Washington DC for two years? Maybe that's how they are going to approach this thing: North - South - Mid-Atlantic?

I still think NYC on a near permanent basis is the smartest way to go for the ACC but it's not like I'm going to skip the event regardless of where it is played. If finances and circumstances allow, I will attend those games regardless of where they are held.

I REALLY like Charlotte as a city and I'm sure their arena is nice. Also, like Greensboro, it is very cheap when compared with the others in the rotation. If they are going to do this then perhaps Pittsburgh can leach in on that Washington, DC aspect of the rotation? We're basically Mid-Atlantic too. Plenty of other schools can easily drive to Pittsburgh for games at the Consol Energy Center (18,087 seats). Hell, we could play the women's games at the slightly smaller Petersen Events Center (12,500 seats) on Pitt's campus (a mile or two away) too and have the first ever mega tournament. How cool would that be?

And if it's on St. Patrick's Day weekend, all the better. Pittsburgh has the second largest St. Patrick's Day celebration in the US (after NYC) and that would be a FUN party for visiting fans to enjoy. Basically every bar in town is jam packed while Irish music is blared from the speakers and hoops on every television. It's probably my favorite weekend of the year in Pittsburgh and I think visitors would absolutely LOVE that experience.

Championship games should be PRIME TIME Saturday Night!!!!!!04-cheers

I have always thought playing a championship game on sunday morning/afternoon a tad strange, but wasn't knocking it.

But my heart/head believe's a True Championship game should be slugged out under the bright lights/big city!! ...and with all our fanbases' combined we would sell out a expedition game in Antarctica05-mafia
FLossY out...04-wine

Well, either way, it would make for a hell of a party on that championship Saturday night. That much I can definitely vouch for. People would stay after their team was eliminated just for the party.

This is exactly what I thought they would do. Actually, I thought they'd go back to NC for three years, one in Charlotte and two in Greensboro, since the A10 is filling those in. I'd expect another 5 year rotation of the same following this: Verizon, Barclays, Barclays, Charlotte, Greensboro and then it will be about time to be taking a look at MSG for a long term contract. But the landscape may change a lot in 10 years.

I would do NY every other year and then rotate the other sites through. Why have two NC in a row and two NY in a row?

Barclay's Center may require 2 years in a row. MSG probably will as well.

I have never heard that, but Savannah claims to be the second largest St Patrick's Day parade in the US.

Honestly, I never knew Charleston had a St Patrick's Day celebration.

I just looked into it and apparently Scranton's claim is based on a per capita basis, not a sheer size basis. By Scranton's methodology, its parade ranks ahead of both Pittsburgh and New York City but behind Savannah, Georgia.

Pittsburgh's claim is based on sheer number of participants regardless of the size of the local population.

Oh, well, who knows?

Here's what I do know: Pittsburgh is HOPPING on that Saturday before St. Patrick's Day and that is usually when the conference tournaments are taking place. It would make for a VERY fun trip for visiting ACC fans.

When I was stationed at Ft Stewart I remember them saying that it was 2nd. Was lots of fun.

From what I remember of the couple times I have been there it was a load of fun. Of course I think Savannah is a fun city whenever you go, and would rather vacation there than anywhere else.

Very unique city. And the U-turn capital of the world!
