Do you not know how businesses work or why they exist?

"The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant: It's just that they know so much that isn't so." - Ronaldus Maximus Reagan

That's the problem with the left....totally living in an alternate universe.

Businesses are in the business of making money. Most of them do that by providing a service. If more people can afford their services, then that means more business.

It's not rocket science.

If the companies cost to provide said service just went up because their minimum wage employees now got a raise mandated by the government, guess what?...the cost of the service they provide will go up proportionally.

Additionally if minimum wage goes up and so the cost for the company to have their garbage collected costs more, and their cleaning service costs more, and so on, all of those additional costs will be passed on in the cost of their service.

So in the end, the cost of the service the company provides will rise with the increased cost of manpower. No company is just going to eat it on increased wages.

As you said it isn't rocket science.

Any company on a tight budget certainly will avoid all overtime now, so why not make them all part time workers and dump them into Obamacare while they're at it?

Just another possible unintended consequence of the government manipulating wages.

And we pay more for someone who has been priced out of a job. Increase the minimum wage and you price out even more workers.

The minimum wage for unskilled labor isn't an issue that can be addressed with talking points. It's much more complicated than that.

And if it cost more to make their product?

Then they just raise the price of the product to cover the increased product cost which negates the impact of the wage increase. Yes, it's simple economics.

Anyone else think that this is a plot to get the riff-raff out?

When true unemployment is at depression levels, raise the minimum wage so that there are very few low paying jobs. The unskilled force has no other choice but to move elsewhere. It's like cities buying 1-way bus tickets for the homeless.
