Tristan Wilson commits to EMU
Per Steve Bell on twitter.

More length, more athleticism, more "Murph players".

The kid was a beast through the majority of the playoffs. I think he'll do fine here.

Congrats to Tristan and welcome aboard !

We continue to add length and athleticism. Two things you can never have enough of.

Well its great to have a member of the Wilson family back at EMU playing hoops. I don't care what the recruiting rankings say its a good choice for him and the program. Welcome home Tristan this is where you belong.

RE: Tristan Wilson commits to EMU
The rankings are gonna be rough, or non-existent, since he came on so late. But what I see is a long, athletic forward that is aggressive, can block shots, and make free throws. I know he's a bit slender, but I bet he sees decent minutes next year at one of the ends of the zone.

We all know our losses, but by my count, we add three guys for next year in the 6'7-6'8 range. Give me a JUCO/grad transfer big man, and I'll be satisfied with this class. We still have plenty of time for that. Hell, most of us didn't know who Mo Hughley was until late in the summer when he showed up in the team picture and we were like "who's that?". And he ended up playing an important role on this team. That could happen again this year with someone that none of us have any clue about. I'll trust Murphy.

RE: Tristan Wilson commits to EMU
This article is eye opening, it appears all our 2014 scholies are taken but outside of Nobles who are the others we have given scholies to is what all of us want to know:

http://ipsbasketball.com/emu_adds_to_front_court

Wilson wasn't a lock to go to Eastern Michigan even though the Eagles offer was there.

Wilson says "(They offered) a while ago. They don't have any scholarships left a '14 scholarship left so I'm walking on my freshman year" with the plan that he'll be on scholarship the next four years. The extra year will do the slender Wilson a year to develop his body and skill. his father was in a similar situation coming out of high school

enterprite what 'they don't have any scholarships left means"? We have a number of scollies to give based on the seniors all leaving. Could it mean that we have already committed those scollies and are just waiting for the announcements to take place?

what say you?

That doesn't make sense. We lose 6 guys, all of whom I am assuming were on scholarship. Even if only 4 of them were, we should still have enough schollies for Wilson to not have to walk on. Unless we have guys committed that we don't know about, but that's hard to do in the "twitter age".

Cochran appears to be friends with Wilson. He is an excellant wing player, class of 2015 and is being recruited by EMU/Coach Brown. Would be a nice catch for the early signing period this coming fall. Excellant player who averaged around 18 ppg at AA Huron. Huron is coach Brown's alma mater I believe.

I think it means what it means which is that we've committed all our 2014 scholies to other people-recall that we may not be aware of transfers and these are not openly announced or tweeted.

Dear Friends,
I know nothing about basketball recruiting, but what about the two guys sitting at the end of the bench this past season? Jodan Price and ?. Aren't they on scholarship? Add Nobles, and that's three anyway. That's the way I see it, but like I said at the beginning I don't know if any of this helps to answer the questions everyone seems to have.
Also we know that Coach Murphy is tight lipped when it comes to who is even being recruited.

Ken good question are Perry, Farhart and the other one going to be on scholarship next season? If so you had Nobles and Price and that would give you 5 but then why would you offer recently offer Albert?

I think the ones on scholie next year are Lee, Combs, Talley, Ward, Price, Ayaki (sp) and maybe Ross-that would leave six openings, if Ross doesn't return that's seven.

The combinations are interesting aren't they? Kind like a Rubic's cube of recruiting.

Does Clemmons from Iowa transfer to EMU? I don't know. Indiana just announced two players were transferring.

This is the other player sitting on the bench and is the other players besides Ali, Trent:

http://www.emueagles.com/roster.aspx?rp_...ath=mbball

Does he get a scholie in 2014? Or is he like Lyle or Chandler who moved on after one year of practicing with the team?

Is Perry on schollie next year? Does he figure into the plans for next year or is he simply a walk-on getting garbage time minutes?

EMU79, thanks for the article.

I bet Theron Wilson is going to be coming to the games!! Very excited.

Wondering if the Ross transfer will open up a scholarship for him.
