RE: What is the feeling for this year's football season?
I think there was a total disconnect between several seniors and CJF after the Louisville game was stolen. The players put forth a grand effort and the whistle got very much in the way as it did with the UCF game early in the season. Talked to a former football Tiger great who said it was obvious to him that after UL, the upperclassmen were mailing it in and wanted it over. I am glad that group is gone as I am in basketball.

I'm going on record for 5 wins and remaining competitive thorughout the season barring injury.

We desparately need to CATCH THE BALL!

RE: What is the feeling for this year's football season?
The NCAA eased up on some rules about giving players snacks. You've heard it ... they could give them a bagel but no peanut butter, no spread. Now they can give them more.

Our players now have snack/breakfast available I don't want to give a menu because I may get it wrong. These extra calories, made easily available to the team have already made a difference. One of the coaches told me that "this is huge. Folks just won't understand how valuable this is to this team." He went on to tell me about some specific kids and how they've gained weight.

Due to the rule change this was a non-budget item for the program and is being paid for by the football booster club.

RE: What is the feeling for this year's football season?
I think that Fuente needs to win at least 5. I think any less than that and he'll start to feel some pressure, as I've said, whether that's completely fair or not (and I would tend to think it wasn't). But I think the season would have to go waaaaaaaay of the rails for his seat to be anything like hot.

That said, in general I'm fairly positive about the direction of the program. I certainly think that 5 or 6 wins, or even better, is something that's achievable this year.

I hope to see some better hands on the receiver corps, an O line that can hold their blocks for a little longer, and a more mature quarterback making better decisions. And I hope our defense is able to continue playing like it did through the Louisville game. If all that happens, next year could be a really good one.

Amazing.

Sometimes it is indeed the little things that can make a difference.

Great movie

Yep. The scene when Andy broke into the guards office and started playing opera music over the loudspeaker is in my opinion one of the best screen moments in movie history.
Sorry - back to the football discussion.

RE: What is the feeling for this year's football season?
Well, the QB situation shouldn't be in question. Paxton should still be the starting QB this upcoming season.

As far as wins and losses go, I see us improving in that category but not by a whole lot. If we win up to 5 games, I would be pleased. We have a very tough schedule and if we can beat SMU on the road and get some revenge against UConn and Temple, I'll call it a success.

We can't lose against APSU. A total buzzkill if that happens.

My expectations are the same as always, that we show up in the right uniforms, play hard, play smart, and improve over the season. Same as basketball. Keep it fun to watch. Anything above that is gravy. And let appropriate admin and boosters decide when to change coaches.

Beyond that, for football, hopefully, we will go to a bowl game, at least, but my life won't depend on the outcome, lol.

With the great job that Coach Fuente has done so far, and with Tiger Lane, there is a lot to be excited about.

RE: What is the feeling for this year's football season?
I think we see 5 wins at the LEAST this year.
It will be possible to win more...right now we need our offense to gel more....we need better play at the QB position.
Brandon Hayes will be HUGE in our running game...and we will have some defensive gaps to fill.
If Lynch can figure some things out in the passing game...6 wins IS attainable.
I'm predicting 5 as the LEAST amount of games we will win.

Thoughts on Sam Craft at the RB position, full time. Nicely packaged with good moves. Very hopeful the O-line will be up to the challenge.

I hope there's a bowl in the future besides the Rose Bowl in September.

Who cares about what the record is? It's all about parking prices and chiggen bones. And finding the free beer tent.

There seems to be a good vibe coming from camp this year. I like the direction the program is headed.

Parking is free on the street, bring your own Jack Pirtle's, and there is a free beer tent?

I would love 6 wins to go bowling, but 7 seems the max, so bowling is certainly not a foregone conclusion.
