Texas A&M-Commerce (D2 school near Dallas) did something similar last season.

Never watch a game on that field in HD. It'll burn in on your TV and sear your eyes. I did a couple of years ago when they were in the playoffs.....never again.

Tried that too. I think I managed 1 quarter before using a cold compress on my eyes. Epic Rage

Nice avatar Warrior Mod.
Yeah EWU must have some almost blind visiting players long before the end of the game also.

Our guys absolutely hated playing on that field.
For those that haven't had the pleasure:

I've never seen the purple field before at Central Arkansas, that is truly hideous! Glad the ban is in place. Are these two schools and Boise State, etc. grandfathered in or are they going to have to revert?

I don't think it applies to FCS or D-II programs.

I also think that the mascot in the middle of the field can only lie between the 40's in FBS (could be wrong though, that might just be for the NFL).

RE: NMSU to Install Artificial Turf
Artificial turf has about a ten year usage rate so imagine if it did apply to FCS they would let them and Boise State wait
until they returfed their stadiums. EWU is about four years old. Central even newer I believe. Isn't Boise's current turf
a few years old?

RE: NMSU to Install Artificial Turf
I'm not sure there is a ban for turf color. Last year the NCAA tabled a discussion for a rule to disallow Boise to wear all blue on their blue turf, as the worry is it would apply to teams with green uniforms on grass/natural colored turf.

The interesting twist is that Boise controls licensing of anyone getting a turf color other than green. They have so far only allowed high schools to have a blue field, they want to be unique in college sports. It's a free license, but Boise has to approve of your color choice.

How is that even possible? Explain that law?

The licensing thing? They copyrighted/patented (not sure of the correct term) the concept of having a field color other than natural/green. That way they get to protect their investment by not allowing anyone to have blue so they protect their IP. The way they're doing it also saves money for schools so they don't have to cancel/alter plans after the changes are put in place. If Boise went down the route to legally brand the concept of colored turf for their brand, they have every right to defend it.

RE: NMSU to Install Artificial Turf
Pretty broad copyright. I clearly see copywriting anything close to blue, but a field of color any color seems a bit too much. Just a layman, but I would tell them that is just insane.

I really wish there was a way to force that crap they got off color tv. Black and white ok, but it kills my eyes.
