That was the same temporary football only deal they gave to Temple; Temple was bailed out by the massive realignment... UMass will likely have to drop back to FCS if they maintain their insistence of keeping basketball in the A-10.

Atlantic 10 FBS Football?

Could that attract ODU/Charlotte/UAB/MTSU/USM to bail on C*USA and get full-membership in the A-10?

I wouldn't have minded CUSA taking UMass earlier on over programs like FIU or UNT, but at this point, I don't know financially whether it makes sense to keep adding mouths at the table when there's already such a question about money.

If UMASS joined C-USA East, which schools make up a list who might be added to the C-USA west along with them?

UMass won't join C*USA east unless it is football-only. And I doubt we would benefit much from that.

RE: UMass leaving MAC?
Why would C-USA want a MAC reject that is 500+ miles away from the closest school and plays in a stadium 100 miles from its campus? Please no don't add them.

You may be right, but what if the phone rings this year? Who might C-USA consider for the west?

I like this option.

How many of the present A-10 members field NCAA FB teams now? How many would be likely to consider going to D1 if they are not that now?

If two questions is too much, try taking them one at a time.

RE: UMass leaving MAC?
1. Google it.
2. The only way to get that answer would be to get a list of A10 president phone numbers, call them up and ask them. I doubt any of them post here, so this would not be the place to get the answer.

RE: UMass leaving MAC?
Richmond (A-10), Delaware (CAA), and JMU (CAA) got some discussion about going up. Delaware rumors were the strongest. Chew on this conference for a while:

UMass
Rhode Island
Delaware
Richmond
ODU
Charlotte
UAB
MTSU
USM
James Madison/*Fordham
*Dayton
*George Washington
*George Mason
*St. Joes
*VCU
*Saint Louis

We're got state flagships, multiple NCAA tournament at-large teams with history (some with UAB), "markets", and much more compact.

RE: UMass leaving MAC?
I see some great games with ODU, Charlotte, MTSU and USM in both basketball and football and they are close enough for all sports. Oh wait, they are already in CUSA
We were in a conference with St Louis and VCU before and would be great for basketball and soccer but would not present a lot of impact otherwise.
What we need to do is make CUSA be CUAB. We need others in CUSA to get the memo and quit scheduling automatic wins. Play good teams. The MVC did it for a few years and the A10 is doing it now. UTEP can't lose to UNO and we all need to find teams that will do well in their conf and we all need to play them and beat them with some of those wins on the road.
