Let's play a game
If you plugged Joe Jackson into the '08 lineup and then plugged D Rose into this years lineup........How far would each team have gone in the tournament in their respective seasons???

The 08 team loses in the Elite 8 to Texas. This year's team loses in the Sweet 16 to Michigan State.

I like Joe and I like Rose..... I just feel like Joe put too much pressure on himself and just couldn't handle it. Rose was on a superior team and didn't have to carry the load, so......I was curious to see if you put Joe on a team that could take the pressure off of a single player what would happen?

BOOM

Cal ran guys off or put them in the dog house (Harrow at Kentucky, J Robinson, W Kemp, etc. at Memphis) if he thought they couldn't play. He would have gone out and recruited someone else after Joe and Chris's first year and pushed them out.

If you're saying that the coach would've been there for the player's entire career up to that point so the coach is responsible for the players' development, then:

08 with Pastner

Sweet 16

14 with Cal

Final Four

I'd plug in Anderson. He would kill his own teammates before he would ever let his team be embarrassed on defense like that. Put Anderson on them, and no way Giffey, Napier, Smart, Rubles, Daniels all have career highs against us.

Too Funny...

08 with JJ and Cal at least the Elite 8...Hell they went to the Elite 8 with the same team Minus Hunt.

14 with Rose and Josh...It would depend on our seed. Cause we would still need to score a ton of points because Rose wouldn't fix our defensive woes. It is debatable that we beat UVA even if Rose is on this team. They still would have shot 60%...

08 goes to at least Elite 8 very possibly final 4,.

Drose the best tiger for me that is tough one. He would be better in 14 than 08 because NCAA is really terrible right now.

I am not sure how bad of a coach Pastner is. We would of had a better seed and probably get to the sweet 16 but I do not think we could of beaten Virginia with him.

We would still be terrible on D, we wouldn't run much of an offense and would not be able to press without giving up lay ups.

Cal took a MUCH, MUCH more talented team last year, to first round NIT loss.

Cal took MUCH, MUCH more talented teams, his first couple of years at Kentucky and didn't win the whole enchilada, despite being CLEARLY the most talented team in the nation.

Cal took the 2008 Tigers, the CLEARLY most talented team in the country, and peed down his leg.

If you are somehow insinuating that Cal is some GREAT coach and Josh isn't, you aren't as smart as I thought you were...

UCLA had Kevin Love, Darren Collison, and Russell Westbrook. Kansas had Brandon Rush, Darrell Aurther, and Mario Chalmers. In no way were we clearly the most talented team in the country.

We had the best "collegiate" team in the nation that year. It was proven on the court, up until the last few minutes of the Kansas game, when the coaching mensa pooped his pants.

Look, Cal is a good coach. But, he is not some end all be all, coaching guru. That's my point.
