The NASCAR community is mourning the death of Lynda Petty, wife of seven-time NASCAR champion and NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty.

Lynda, who was born in 1942, died Tuesday after a lengthy fight with cancer.

A mother of four children including NASCAR on FOX analyst Kyle Petty, Lynda Petty was diagnosed with central nervous system lymphoma in 2010 and underwent treatments at Duke University Medical Center. Her death was announced Tuesday afternoon by Richard Petty Motorsports.

FOX Sports expresses its deepest condolences to the entire Petty family.
