Now on to the REAL statistics:

Comparing the 2012-13 Tigers to the 2013-14 Tigers per Statsheet.com (link) show the following:

2012-13 37% 3pnt FG Pct (ranked #44)
2013-14 33% 3pnt FG Pct (ranked #239)
In summary, 2013-14 was not the year to live and die by the 3... the "miserables" knew this awhile back...

The miserables will try to spin this to fit their agenda, but it is unspinnable.

To be fair (and honest), the OP stated his numbers were rankings of percentages and 3's per game, not raw numbers per game. Bottom line, it sounds like you two agree that we were not a good 3 point shooting team. If someone wanted to do a more detailed analysis, I wouldn't be surprised if the 3 pt shooting percentage varied widely across our games - meaning, we had a few games where we were hot, and it probably won us a game or three, but when we were cold, we were very, very cold.

Some people act like it's just a coincidence that our bad shooting nights happened to be against better defensive teams.

Defense is all want to,energy and heart.

Snark aside, we had bad shooting nights against bad defensive teams as well.

Sad thing is he is the "DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR" (Coach) for the Tigers.. I didn't know this until right before the AAC tourney started and it was mentioned by some of the media and Tiger beat writer..

The miserables will try to spin this to fit their agenda, but it is unspinnable.

OBVIOUSLY, making shots puts points on the board but there's a whole lot more to winning than just that. Defense, rebounding, efficiency, strategy, in-game decision making and putting systems in place to make it easier to score and defend. The last point being possibly most important.

Yes, adjustments like Coach K made and player development like Bill Self accomplished with Tarik Black.

Who gives a rat's a$$ what other coaches do or don't do.. it doesn't affect us- Bottom line, we got our a$$ handed to us in the first weekend of the tournament for the second straight year. Biggest blowout of the weekend by a team with the same caliber of players that we have. Spin that.

.

29% and down 15 at halftime. 40% and it's a 2 point game. I know this is super complicated, but maybe you can focus really really hard and figure it out.

Who cares? That's just speculation. If my aunt had a pair, she'd be my uncle but she doesn't, and we didn't- Some chose to deal with reality and results, instead of if's and buts.

.

I find it facinating that pastner said no less than 5 times in his interview today that he misjudged 3 point shooting ability and yet people are still arguing over it.

The one common bond from the usual bunch of miscreants is that none of them is willing to admit the obvious; which is that horrible 3 point shooting killed us. The hate that our own "fans" have for Pastner is pathetic. I feel sorry for the whole lot of you.

End of the UConn game in Memphis (game tied), UConn shoots 7-7 from the field. Paster puts blame on "shots not falling" (Memphis went 4-9, which isn't awful).

Yeah, it was shooting.

When I look at the espn play by play, it looks like we were 4 of 9 after the game was tied at 62, not 4 of 7. We had tied the game and then proceeded to miss 3 shots in a row while UConn hit 4 in a row before calling a timeout - we never caught back up. This doesn't change the point that we played awful D, but missing 3 shots in a row after working so hard to get back in the game was a bummer. For the game, we shot 43.5% - so, yeah, if some shots had fallen, maybe we win. I get your point - that we let them shoot 57.1% and had 6 more turnovers, so shots falling wasn't the only problem. Just not sure it qualifies for a total "smh" - but, hey, it's your h, so s away.

You need to make 3 more responses to tell the other 3/4 of the story; that you always so conveniently forget. Another comedian that won't even admit that our outside shooting killed us. Another comedian that wanted us to take LESS outside shots even though we were a guard oriented team, and even though we were #260 in the country in 3 point field goal attempts.

- The NYC skyline is nothing special...just a bunch of buildings
- Ferro and Black were the same player
- JJ and EP were the same player because of similar points per minute
- Defend Doug Gottlieb and blast Geron Johnson
- Hammering stakes and spray painting parking spots on Tiger Lane is the same as leaving a hot dog wrapper in a hotel room

Always entertaining.

"Fewer" outside shots ... fewer. I'm experiencing deja vu. If you are going to capitalize something, you should at least get the usage correct.

Yeah. 4 of 9...my bad. Typo that I think I correctly noted in another thread.

It's just simple minded to say "if players just shot like they did the year before..."

I'm a Blue Jays fan and the Jays should have won the WS last year if Dickey, Johnson, Buehrley, Morrow and Romero all matched their best era's and win totals. If if if...

Shooting was our problem last year.

Our defense was garbage, our FT shooting was garbage, our 3 pt shooting was garbage, our half court offense was garbage, our rebounding was semi-garbage, our turnovers were garbage, our coaching adjustments were garbage, our press was garbage, and development of a 10 deep roster we thought we were going to see to wear out the other teams was garbage.

Lots of garbage.

It makes more sense to say that I'm Socrates and just because we had a better frontline and the backcourt shot fewer (happy now) three pointers, that we should have been expected to shoot so crappy from out there. Another genius post.

Seriously, have you not watched the JP press conference where even he admits that he vastly overestimated our 3 point shooting ability and thus was over reliant on a bad shooting team to make threes? Why are you arguing something that even the coach has admitted to being a mistake at this point?
